Not sure I will actually use these on my simpits but it will work a treat for my CNC router table.

    Search amazon for Drag Chain

I highly suggest buying a drag chain over printing them. They take quite a bit of time and are relatively cheap to buy. The one you shared is off of thingiverse and actually will unclip pretty easy at the right angle.

I know it is from thing universe, it is in the link that I also posted.

Yes, I could buy them, from many more sources than Amazon but this was also for fun. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I printed like 100 of them for my CNC machine, was pretty much a pain in the butt as far as I was concerned. The longer you get the more they seem to pull apart so just me mindful of length. The other thing I would say is make sure the wires that you run through them you wont be unplugging and moving much because its a pain to run the wire through them and back out if you need to move something around.

Sorry, I didnt see the link because that enormous picture drew me in.

I have another design that I am going to work on later as well. It is actually a kit created to be cut on the cnc found on cnczone. It has interlocks to keep the links from coming apart. Thought I might run them on the 3D printer instead and see how they go.

I am pretty impressed with the ones I have run though. I can see that binding would break them apart but if I run my wires well that would not be an issue. The PLA is pretty ridged, what type of filament did you use?

Both PLA and ABS. I wondered if PETG would work best since its more flexible but might not bind enough to hold the pins in the holes.

I think ideally it would be best if we could design a drag chain that could bend both ways...I would imagine it to look more like triangles or scales on a snake kind of.

I agree, the links really need to be ridged.

I did actually see a multi-direction carrier once, if I can remember were I will put up a link.

Awesome Historiker!! So you have a 3D printer and cnc again!!! I'm wrapped!!! I've not quite finished my cnc as I did a complete rewiring and cabinet install and fish farm been intense but if I had 4 thumbs they would be all up in air and pointed at YOUR direction!

After alittle acetone clean ours turned out pretty fly! My abs are defo much better but as abs has the oil base compared to filament we are using it makes sense my shop bought are Alot smoother and Alot stronger.

I printed a bunch of these in luminous pla. Once cleaned up they work decent.
