    Hi guys,
just solved an issue of missconfiguration setup thanks @noorbeast ,
I want to ask you if misconfiguration settings in simtools could effect hardware like RS485 to USB converter or even motor drivers.
I got some failures on thoose items in the past and I was blaming GND missallignment, after several measurements this seems not be a problem and I 'm still investigating what could be the cause of thoose failures.
My question is, can sim tools settings for 3DOF damage the hardware in case only 1 or 2 DOF are really installed?

I guess not and I understand this question could sound weird, anyway you're more expert than me in this and you can maybe give me some feedback.
My system is based on 3 SCN-6 and 1 RS485 converter to USB.
    thanks a lot
    Michele

What could cause damage via settings is hardware design and limitations. SCN pins are a known weakness and can break if the design is not great and they are driven hard on the software setting side.

@nclabs is the SCN guru and he and other using the RS485 are better placed to comment on their possible weaknesses, but that is likely hardware related, not SimTools related.

Let me understand, you have 3 SCN6 and just one RS485toUSB converter? How is it possible?
Anyway, like @noorbeast said, you have to set the hardware with the goal to work with your rig, if you choose too extreme settings and made suffer the hardware is not software fault, because the software knows nothing about your rig and how it should set itself.
