    Hi,
    i am Bernd from Germany and new at this forum. I'm working as a "Measurement and control mechanic" and like to introduce my DIY-project of an 2DOF seatmover. It should be a compact design with wiper motors under the seat. So i decided to use a 3D-program to check if the proportions and movement possibilities are ok.

    The first photos of the building process will follow soon.

    You may need to shorten your connecting rods(the ones attached directly on the motor shaft). I can't be sure but they seem quite long on the pic.

    Such a compact position of the motors may lead you ending up anywhere from 2,5cm to 3,5cm C-C(hole to hole) rods.

    Hello pipis2015,
    the pics deceive, hole to hole on the connecting rods is 3,5cm.
    As you can see on the new attached pictures, i've added 2 pots on my circuit board, one for zero point and one for range of motion for the motors. They will be added to the Arduino program.
    Also i've added 2 slotted optical switches for each motor, they switch it of (brake to GND) by hardware (TTL and-gates) as a precaution for motor pot break and software faults.

    Hello !

    Do you know the power of your motors ? If they are not powerful maybe it would be better to use both of them for all movements. And you should probably use springs to help them :thumbs

    Apart from that, this is a very good start and a nice project.

    Hi Bernd, im very New about to build a 2dof chair mover, I take your time to ask, on which link I can really read step by step to star, on dc motors, plus arduinos one, monsters and etc. I see a various links but I can't find someone show from scratch the electrical conection from arduinos motors and telemetry on iracing,

    @Bernd Manger i noticed that you have added some capacitors on your MM. why did you do that?were they needed for you motors?

    The motors are from the german dealer 'imc-drives' (ebay) .
    Specifications:
    Ratio: 1:96 Current: 2,5A (no load) 10A (max. efficiency) 45A (stall)
    45r.p.m. (no load) Torque: 10Nm (max. efficiency) 48Nm (stall)

    I've tested the chair with load (my 80kg) and each motor alone is strong and fast enough to move it.

    This i do not understand. With SimTools every motor is driven individually. Am i right?

    I found this in the data sheet of the VNH2SP30-E, witch is placed on the MM:

    The value of the blocking capacitor (C) depends on the application conditions and defines voltage and current ripple onto supply line at PWM operation. Stored energy of the motor inductance may fly back into the blocking capacitor, if the bridge driver goes into tri-state. This causes a hazardous overvoltage if the capacitor is not big enough. As basic orientation, 500μF per 10A load current is recommended.

    So i've placed 2000μF more for 60A max. current.

    In my experience the practice shows no issue all days. I am using really big motors (winches) and there is way more back current on the MMs than on yours. My MMs are running fine since more than 2 years and are running and running...

    lol, you rate my posting optimistic? More than 1000 hours I spent on the track and rig and many of them on the bumpy nordschleife, and believe me the 750W winches are moving very aggressively...

    i did not want to "step on your feet" as we say in german, i only wanted to make a little joke.
    I've watched your thread often in the past and planned to use winch motors like you and tried one at home, but my wife was about killing me because of its loud noise, so i decided to take wiper motors.

    Yes but you can set more than one effect on each. I think most of the 2 DOF are using 2 motors for each movements.

    Your motors seems to be good for a seat mover, maybe a little bit more torque would be better but I'm sure it will do the job.

    I've welded the lower part of the front with the rails coming from the bucket seat. They allow a movent of pedals and wheel by +/-10cm.
