Hello everyone new to the sight . It is finally time to put my sim racing hobby knowledge towards building my first motion setup . I built my own sim rig out of wood full cockpit with wheel, pedals , shifter ,e-brake, 4xButtkickers and button box. Triple screen (3x43"4K TV's)and also Oculus Rift CV1 , so here goes my first question of many to come. I will slowly purchase part by part and first on my list will be motors . My build hopefully will be of the seat shaker type (behind shoulder style) something like the Sim Experience Stage 1 with motors not actuators. What are your thoughts using car jack motors .

Black Bull EJ212 12 Volt Fully Automatic Electric Car Jack.

Some time researching and planning is time well spent, and the community here can help you out as you formulate your ideas about what you want to build.

You need to determine and finalise the intended design before considering the parts list, as in some respects design can determine what are the best parts to use, particularly with regard to motors.

Have a look at existing member builds, that may help you refine your own project: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find plenty to get you started in the FAQs, from design software, dimension of sims, to PSUs, pots, motors, JRKs, Arduinos and Motor Monsters and more: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

That was one of the DIY sims that I was interested in and bookmarked . Just needed some input regarding those types of motors . My concern with this type of car jack is its not used alot for example if i used my personnel car more than once a year that would be a lot. . So I was wondering how reliable they would be for constant movement .

Jack motors are not common but @mariano68 has shown they can work. Design and load are the main factors that could affect reliability.
