i also get the black screen with red bits that float n eve valkarie is terrible on the part where you select the male female.
im going to my friedns as he recevied his aswell so will test out to see if its me or the head set or computer issues.

i think the lenses are marked from maufacture but could be condensation but if that the case there nothing i can do i will prob go back to my trust dk2. nq9ms4nn8tvr.jpeg fxb07frku3r7.jpeg dtvv6odf4rib.jpeg

raised a support ticket to see what they fob me off with.
might get the cv2 by time i get it sorted with them now. lol
looks to me like the lenses are grooved un even to me by way it transfers the light. but could explain the really really bad god rays which is a complete shock to how bad that is.
i was fine with the dk2 and sweet spot was ok would have been even better if it had this strap system to get right each time and stay there.
the dk2 to me only needed the res upping thats it to make it clearer.

Fresnel lenses have advantages and disadvantages and that is what both manufactures have chosen, so I'm guessing they had a good reason. Don't like the God Rays, but do like the extra pixels. Luckily it is not so noticeable in a game and for the most part I can ignore them. It is a risk that we have taken and are stuck with (and was never talked about by any reviewer before releaseo_O) , but they will want to find something better for CV2 if they are after a market outside just Early Adopters / Enthusiast.

Fresnel lenses give a larger sweet spot, are lighter and thinner, but personally I find traditional lenses suit my wonky eyes better. Part of that is because I choose not to wear my glasses and I hate contacts.

One option I think is needed is to integrate, or be possible via adjustable lenses, is to meet prescription needs. That won't eliminate the likes of god rays as a byproduct of Fresnel lenses, but it would help reduce complicating factors that are known to exacerbate the problem, like astigmatism.

so would you say my picks of the lenses are normal with in consistant groves which is causing wishywashy more as misty patches.

Photos are not great for optical diagnostics @f1iceman.

The Fresnel grooves should be consistent. The actual perception of optics depends a lot on the adjustment, what is being viewed and physical individual characteristics of a persons head and eyes.

With the Rift you can adjust the straps, the IPD and the tilt of the HMD. Even with perfect adjustment god rays will be evident, particularly with white text on a black background.

You can minimise the effects of pupil swim by moving your whole head and not just your eyes.

Oculus does have a testing tool and procedure, which I understand includes taking particular types of photos, but you will need to get directions from them.

i think the first one shows it preety clear tbh the diffrent groove cuttings.
and the rest of the pics the patchy look in exactly the same place but certainly looks to me a groove issue.
and the god rays yes i would have to live with but why the hell didn'ty they do a dve kit to get the thoughts of us all like a dev kit was for.
they got it spot on for me with dk2 just need the extra clarity n a case change, sweet spot was fine for me.
so to completely change the whole thing was not good in my eyes.(he he he)
i really don't feel emersed now in the games like i did in the dk2.
it could be just i need to get used to it but its defo not good atm for me.
but if the grooves are not perfectly clear cut the god rays will be worse there but worse than a clear perfect lense.
i am shocked there was no mention of the god rays being so bad and not on reviews that i came accross.
i do like it but i am stuck to if i will feel imersed again.
i might try going back to my dk2 to see how i am then.
with the god rays i think the game devs should change the menus for vr tho project cars is real bad black n white. doh

To get rid of the god rays pull the headset further away from your eyes. Its not nearly as bad as your photo illustrates although it is there in certain titles. When you pull the headset away it adjust the focal length and should assist your eyes with god rays. Some additional foam will do this nicely. I have done it.

another option is anti glare glass lenses like my prescription has. THis helps to eliminate this as well. Just like it does on a windshield at night with car lights.

yes was thinking that for god rays as i wear glasses normally but i use contacts most the time. ive put an order in for new contacts tho as these i have are no good now.
but the pics of the lenese are not god rays that my issue.
i hope my new lenses will help.
i am impressed with everything else but these marks i think i can see.
which distracts play :-( i don't see straight away just after a min or two when eye focus on that bit.

orderd new contact lenses now aswell, start fresh i say and try again, i ain't in a good way with my eyes atm due to hayfever which could well be my problem if my eyes are watering more than normal when the rift is on could be the blur i am getting.
will see when my new lenses arrive as they easy on the eyes n helps the hayfever abit n the watering.

thursday they arrive and hope that solves my problems.
