i tried the bldc actuator silent chill made but my programming skills are not up to it. i have a working prototype but still modifying printed parts. parts so far are 450mm ball screws, e30-150-24 motor, aluminum stair rail post, top rail for fence, 10 turn potentiometer, timing belt and gears for 3d printer. i am running it with arduino and ibt-2 the same as i did with crab pot motors.

i now have an assembled and working 24v dc actuator with around 8inches of travel. it's a little loud but i think that is normal? i plan to add a bit more lube and take the ball screws to a local shop to be straightened. next step is to build a mount to test it's weight capacity and hook up a 25 amp power supply. amp draw stays low most of the time but can hit 5 on full travel fast direction change movements. applying ample hand pressure makes little if any difference in amp draw.
