It looks like a 6dof seat mover. I wonder how the surge feel. While stepping on the gas pedal, the distance between the seat and the wheel/pedals is shorting, and while braking the seat is moving backward hence the distance between is farthering. That gives a wrong cue on surge, doesn‘t?
Ofc, the pitching is always correct, that could make up some of this wrong cue.

You are correct, they would likely set it up like a standard seat mover, were the seat moves forward under braking and back for acceleration. Hard to tell from the video, not allot of surge, or even sway happening. Hold on, in the video it looks like the pedals may be connected to the moving frame. Also they have fixed the harness to a frame with rollers at the back to tighten them when th rig pitches forward under braking, so they cannot use a true surge. It's all a bit odd....
