Has anyone tried to use electric tarp motors? They seem to be able to handle from 600 W to over 1 kW, depending on model, and operate at around 60 RPM at 12 V, so there should be more than enough torque available to use whatever arm length one needs, and take full advantage of the motor controller at a higher efficiency than wiper motors (probably).

These sound good to me. Possibly better suitable than my 24v wheelchair motors. Good thing is they are enclosed in a solid case which will reduce the noise that winch motors make.

If I hadn't already ordered a couple of wiper motors for my project I would have tried tarp winch motors. Maybe later.
