    My Motion Simulator:
    3DOF
Quick background of my skills and limitations. I’ve been sim racing for 5 years and am ready to make the leap into a motion rig. I have a full fab shop for my race cars in my garage and can make just about anything.

My limitation and reason for help, I’m not handy with electronics and motors. Main goal is power to handle weight and responsiveness. A friend has a production motion rig and it has some noticeable lag and I’m not a fan of it.

can anyone source me for good responsive motors and controllers to output the games motion? The weight of the platform and all gear and myself I’m assuming will be around 400lbs total weight. If possible 500lbs compact for a 3DOF.

Also clueless how to wire this stuff. If a guide is available to set up the motors would be appreciated. Again the welding and everything else is in my realm. I just need ideas and help for motor choice and set up.

Id like to keep this below $1000 in total or close if possible.

if this has been done and answered recently feel free to send me to that thread or video

I appreciate you have a vision in mind, plus many questions, and many of us started in exactly the same position.

But take a moment, and a deep breath, as doing some research before getting in too deep is time well spent.

Use the Search on the Recent page to find similar projects as to what you have in mind, as 3 or 5 DOF is a wide and very diverse overall criteria. Mass and budget are helpful, but both have to fit in an understanding of design Vs physics tradeoffs.

You will also find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

Then before doing anything else bounce your plans and shopping list off members before jumping too far down what can be an expensive rabbit hole, if you get it wrong.

    Good luck with your project.
