I dont know if i'm posting in the right place,i'm very dismayed.I bought a used DOF H3 motion platform,i've just finished building it up.I thought i'd try it out in MSFS,it was a bit juddery.Anyway i did two laps round the airport and i could smell burning.I felt the right motor and it was ok,felt the back motor that was ok.When i felt the left motor it was hot, that's where the burning was from.I'm gutted.

Does the motor still run once it cooled down?

If it does run you probably should still strip that motor down and check the windings and brushes.

does it use potentiometers for location ?

you may be able to swap the motor from left to right and see if the problem still exisits

It does run,i moved my seat back to take a bit of load of the front. Its still juddery and still gets warm, the other motors don't get warm at all.As for stripping it down,i'm going to do some studying on youtube.

Balance is determined with you sitting in the rig and all peripherals attached, with the motors disconnected and a good friend helping to steady things if needed.

Decided to take the motor off the back, swap it round and get the hot one rewound. That way i'll still have a 2 dof for the time being,i did price one up from Dof reality.$300.00 pluss shipping,it's cheaper to get it fixed.
