    hi all,
I am a new user of X-Sim. I'd like to DIY a motion simulator with X-Sim and SCN5 cylinder.
My SCN5 cylinder connects to PC via USB with RS-485 To USB converter.
Now, when I click Try send data at X-Sim force-sender, X-Sim profiler will run Start, too. But when I click Disconnect at force-sender, there will appear a dialog box Error opening comport COM4 at profiler.
How to deal with this problem?

    Thanks.

Have you set profiler.exe to run as administrator?
Id set force sender to run as admin also.
Can i have one last picture of your Ports (Com & LPT)” in Device manager?

Did you set your adapter setting like this?

    Untitled.jpg

Only other thing I think it could be is the adapter is not based on a FTDI chip.

Yes, I have the same settings as your screenshot.

In fact, I can run these programs well, the message just appeared when force-sender disconnected(e.g. leave a game).

    Well I'm glad it works!
I would bet the problem lies in the prolific driver, but its just a guess! :?

    hi sirnoname,

I used the comport for SCN5 plugin and in the USO dialog.
Here are the screenshots of the two pages.

If I disable SCN5 plugin and disable the actuator, that error message box will not appear.

    Thanks.

Please click Remove Comport - it's in the second picture you posted, near the bottom right.
That should clear the Select comport to edit in USO, you don't need that I believe.
Then give the program a try, I bet it works.

    My Motion Simulator:
2DOF, DC motor, Arduino, Motion platform
In my case, one few times I get error opening com port so I reset x-sim (other stuff folder >registry cleaner) and reset the AMC and everything comes back to normal.
This is more often when massively changing/tweaking profiles...
    :highfive:

    Yes!! The problem is solved.
    Thank you.

Now I have a new problem. I followed http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/x-sim-2-0-video-tutorials-t1214.html to set force-sender and profiler, but my profiler can't receive effect values( input #21~#40). These values were always zero.
Did I set some settings wrong?

I run rFactor game and use rFactor plugin.
    Thank you.
