    Hi everyone,

I hope I'm not out in la la land with this question. I have years of experience building many different projects and worked as a contractor for years. The organization I work for has asked me to build a motion simulator that turns side to side with a video, sort of like a flight simulator that is preprogrammed. The sim would hold up to six people and only dip side to side as the video plays. The video would be a simulated flight in Santa's sled as it flies from one city to the North Pole. The video would only be one and a half minutes long. It doesn't need to tip forward or back, only side to side. All of the motion of the simulator would be preprogrammed with the video. Am I in over my head? Is it possible in the next four months to construct? Is a platform holding six people too large? I'm reading through all of the threads and can't seem to get a feel for where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

It is perhaps possible using SimTools 2 with the Video Ride related plugins, but would take some time and commitment to do, as you also have to source parts: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/categories/official-companion-apps.32/

A platform for 6 would take some serious and expensive hardware to pull off, what is your budget?

While planning, and even before ordering and waiting for parts, you can practice with SimTools by simulating a simulator: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simulate-a-simulator.350/

Or build a RC servo powered model to test your ideas: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-working-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.216/

That way you can risk assess what would be a very expensive project, one that if used with the public would also likely need formal safety and other certification.
