    Hey guys / Gals
With the recent demise of 2 JRK's (both on seat movement) I pose the following question:
With the introduction on SimTools 2.x and the lack of being able to run the JRK utility at the same time, how / what is the best procedure to assure the lack of motor drive errors, while still optimizing the PID profiles?

    Thoughts?

As a band-aid you can try these interface settings:
    upload_2017-9-7_22-7-49.png
The movements will be jerky (;)) because this only uses 7bit resolution for the positioning (rather than the original 12 bit). Maybe this is still good enough for fiddling with the PID settings? Have a try!

Yeah, I got that, I do that as well first. But it is nice to see motor errors (if any) and response in real time to the sim while actually driving

The downside of SimTools 2 using the native JRK API is that you can't run both at the same time unless you have SimTools running on a separate machine, the upside is how much more responsive SimTools is with JRKs.

    Yup agree on both accounts
    Thanks...
So..... Is there another app or a way to see if there are motor errors at least?
That really is what I am looking for, as I believe in light of two JRK's giving up the ghost within a week or so, that possibly I have the PID's a touch to high.

If you have had 2 JRKs die then I think you need to make sure cooling is adequate and that there are no wiring issues, as those are the most likely causes, not settings. But it would also help if you post pictures of all of your settings.

Over 400 hours in the past year, Has 2 four " fans directly over them, Large aluminum heatsinks... Not much more I could do. Can't imagine it is a power issue as they are all wired they same (Including traction loss with no issues)

    But always open to suggestions

    - So there is 400hrs on everything else including the brushed DC motors ;). If the settings on the JRKs worked fine for one years - it is very unlikely that it is a faulty JRK. as electronics just don't work that way. More likely a intermittent short in your motors - as anything else would just shut down your JRKs and not destroy them. I used JRKs in my old sim - basically found them bullet proof if used within specifications. Good luck.

2 out of 3 JRKs dying within a week suggests there may be a cause rather than coincidence.

so...... interesting stuff.... not in a good way...
With the recent purchase of a brand new house in a brand new neighborhood, I started checking my house voltage output from several wall sockets (US) I am getting from 155 to 165 voltline out!
Not good, I have reported this to my power company

    Never mind
..... Replaced battery in volt meter all is good now... lol
