Question Kart specific sensors

    I am in the process of making two kart-specific sensors for my rig and I am wondering if people here may have already made something similar or can offer suggestions/opinions on how to make them.

    In karting tucking your head on a long straight can help reduce drag. It kind of provides a DRS option to get a bit more speed. One option I am considering is a normally closed momentary button (like those found on car doors to control the dome lights) installed in the back of the seat so when you lean forward, the back is no longer pressing on it. Another option could be a proximity sensor somewhere near the steering wheel.

    The other sensor is to simulate riching up the air/fuel mixture into the carburetor. In karts, this is done by covering the air intake box with your right hand. I am thinking of a photoresistor inside a box with a hole so it can sense how much light is let through depending on how much the hand is covering the hole.

    Finally, I am thinking of using an Arduino micro pro and creating a simple code using the mouse or keyboard library to produce keypresses from the mentioned sensors that the game can recognize. For the ‘head tucking’ I think this could work as it is only a on/off function in the game but not sure how to produce the ‘air box signal’ as it needs to be sensitive to how much light (air) is obstructed. Any thoughts?

    Both, I would suggest, depend on the telemetry provided by the game with respect to the user actions, have you confirmed with the game devs that both type of user actions are accurately modeled?

    You were right, turns out there is an option called "driver tracking" that I needed to click, now the VR headset takes care of the head tucking boost. Which is great but the only option when playing on the regular monitor is pressing a key/button of my choice to emulate. Not a big deal as I'm playing mostly with the headset.

    Also, the air choking is only a key or button selection in Kart Racing Pro but it functions pretty well compared to real life to the point that if you hold it too long it shuts down your engine in the middle of the track, but this action is not available in kartkraft or assetto so it may be useless to try and implement something fancy.
