    Hi all :sos
We're searching for a member who has a rear axis traction loss system or a yaw axis installed on his/her sim. We would like to do some conceptual tests on traction loss.

Please send me a PM, if you're willing to assist.

    Thank you, Thomas

So far RufusDufus has volunteered to test some Traction Loss concepts. Thanks mate!:thumbs

I have a modified Dirt3 plugin to test.
Anyone else available for a test?

For those interested, here is a video of the simtools traction loss in action... still working on some fine details with value1 but it is coming along well. :thumbs

Note I have all other seat motion disabled while doing these tests.

    Ignore my bad driving! :(

    Hi,
Will there any developments with "traction loss." I see RufusDufus succeeded, congratulations! :thumbs, But is it functional for Assetto Corsa and iRacing?

    thanks :)

Hi @value1 same here if these games plus rFactor and RRE will be supported I will continue to modify the rig for traction loss. But need more time to finish it :)

I too have traction loss but so far the only game plugin that utilizes it is Dirt3 (I believe but could be wrong). I have been mixing sway into my traction loss axis and it feels really cool to feel the sideways movement on tight corners in iRacing and Assetto Corsa.

Some game may work well by using yaw and then turning washout on and adjusting the speed.
Maybe give it a try with Live for Speed and tell me what happens?

@Historiker may I ask what DOF you use in dirt3 for the traction loss?
We may be able to add that algorithm to all codemaster games.

Sorry yobuddy, I have not yet tried it with Dirt3. I think Dave had mentioned that it worked. But I will give it a try. I will also check to see if I can get yaw to give the same affect.

@yobuddy, the traction loss that was tested in the video above was a special test version of the plugin that @value1 sent me... not sure if it was released.

It had three different algorithms for testing of which the Extra2 worked best for me in testing "Extra2 is the difference between the car's heading and the speed vector"

Jetzt kann ich am rig weiter bauen ;) Now I can continue with building the traction loss.

Great work! Once I get my traction loss up and running in the next few weeks I'll test out the Rfactor plugin.

Hi @value1, it seems like there are a few of us in the process of making a rear traction loss dof. I'd like to provide feedback to you but I've been waiting six weeks for crab pot puller motors to come from Canada, and still no sign of them. For all of that, I really appreciate the work you've done on this, and I can't wait to try the drifting motion.

I'm currently researching on the best way to pivot or mount the traction loss system. As it's still kind of on topic I suppose someone on here might be able to help. This may also relate to the parameters in the software.

A couple of questions for everyone with traction loss.
Where did you pivot your sim for traction loss? (right at the front, at the feet, under the knees...)
What is your sim running on? (sliding rails, bearings, inline skate wheels...)
How many degrees of rotation is suitable for a realistic feeling of traction loss?

Mine is pivoted at the front to mimic a car. It is supported on six heavy duty trolley wheels and has 300mm of movement although I think slightly less would still be OK. It is chain driven for torque as it has to move a seat mover, surge table and soon a heave seat module.

So do you mean 150mm to each side from the center line?
I was thinking of using a toothed belt on mine (like a car engine timing belt). But I need to see how I will mount it first before working out the final plans.
I have 3" heavy duty castors but I think they'd wear out too quick. I also have 400Kg per castor super heavy duty but they're a little big with their 9" wheels.
I'd like it to run smooth without too much noise if possible so I was thinking that inline skate wheels on a nylon or PTFE surface might work well?

Looks good Mike. I'll look forward to seeing that in action.

I'm thinking that a top mount bearing from a suspension strut might work quite well too and dead easy to get hold of. I think I have 3 or 4 laying around my garage too. But those bearings on simply bearings are cheap as chips.
    Are they noisy?
