Howdy all, I am chasing a offline usable VPN program, that preferably doesnt have to be even connected to the net to run, obviously I have to download it from the net.

I have 2 offline sims that run games that are multiplayer and connect to external servers.

So I need something to run on each machine so I can "LAN" them.

    Hamachi doesnt

Tuungle still wants internet connection to even run offline

Gameranger doesnt do what I need it to do

    Any ideas?

    Cheers, Dave.

tunngle requires being online to be offline, go figure.
Oh hang on that link provides a whole heap of extra files that may fix it, beady mate!
The games that support LAN have no problem, I run a cable between the 2 'puters and its all go. its the games that require to connect to an external server thats the issue.

scratching my head ATM. theres conflicting information. I am trying to LAN Grid 2 and Autosport COMPLETELY offline.
Officially its not supported like that.
At this stage I am looking for a work around as the game contacts racenet for servers, so unless there is a fix I can find, this is still no good to me.
I will work on it this week and see how I go.

Does not seem to be supported @bsft so you are really pushing it uphill. You may be better to consider alternatives. I think Grid 1 had LAN. The other option is to give it what it wants, net access, via a mobile hotspot...but make sure to control limits.

Yes I figured that out. I will look at that sort of thing later.
In mean time i think I have "version" of first GRID around, I will give that a whirl.
I havent yet tried it with Simtoools, and it gave me random crashes under "previous" software

i did something like that with office software (erp)

you can do it by hand. (i hope i am not telling you something you all ready know)

option 1. Buy a cheap 10 usdlls lan swetch and it will connect your two cpu in a local net.

option 2. use a "crossed lan cable" to do this there are a lot of tutorial on google, but basically you cut a patch lan cable in to two cables, and then you "cross" some colors, then in the ip configuration of your two computers you set them an static ip in the same domain, like this.: computer 1: 198.168.0.10 and computer 2: 198.168.0.11 and that is all... you have your own lan.

    best regards

Thanks man, already tried that as well. tried Tuungle, hamachi, gameranger.
The issue is that the games I want to LAN only have racenet hard coded into the program for online multiplayer only.
At this stage I am not planning to do that with the dual racers.
LAN games for it are GRID, Flatout2, Dirt2. They work just fine.
If they want to play single player, there is Grid 2 , autosport, dirt showdown.
    Thanks for the help though.
    Dave.
