Thank you Andy. I understand what you mean.

Do you have a picture of the type of connections that are underneath the car seat so that it would fit on the dofreality rig?

Is there a specific name to it?

I think they are just 6mm bolts.

Te bolts attach the seat to the runners and then the runners bolt to the DofReality seat frame. You will see in photos I'll get to you over the weekend that I also used some spacers.I had to do that to allow the seat runners to work properly.

I'll get a photo to you over the weekend.

    Thank you so much Andy!

Do you think something like this would work?

That would work perfectly. I know that because that's the seat I have (although mine is all black leather effect).

In Malaysia, where everything here is hot and humid, the fake leather isn't the best option because I tend to stick to the seat a little. If you can find a cloth option I would go with that.

    Just something to consider.

But also remember, car seats are designed to take g forces. The simulators are not. If you could find a small low back seat without wings and stuff, that seat would be just as good. A cannibalized office chair would do just as good a job. We all just want racing seats because they look good.

    Just a thought

Here is a photo of how the seat mounts to the frame

    20180714_084042.jpg

I slotted the seat rails to provide some side to side adjustment

Yeah, I know the slotting wasn't very neat and tidy.

Your set up looks so cool and neat!
    I love it!
Thank you so much for sharing the pictures!

There is a lot of wires around the rig itself. My younger kid would do nuts! Lol
Are those wired all related to the rig?
Can they be mounted and unmounted?

I have a question about the dofreality 6 dof here

What do you think about it?

    Hi Marco.

Not all the wires you can see are related to the rig, but most are.

I sometimes wonder myself what they all are and why they are there.

There are actually two computers. The red pc is the gaming computer which connects to the motion rig, wheel, pedals, shifter, wheel mounted button box, digital display, keyboard, mouse, second monitor projector and small tablet display. The second black pc is my Assetto Corsa server allowing me to run Assetto corsa races without it drawing resources from the gaming pc.

It's probably all a little excessive but it all works ok. I guess you could get away with a lot less.

It wouldn't be a five minute hid to disconnect the rig from the pc however I have two powered usb hubs mounted on the rig so other than the displays, all the comms between the pc and the rig are on two usb cables only. One usb hub covers the the wheel, shifter, button box and digital dash. The other usb has two cables for the DoD reality, pedals and small tablet display which I use as an additional button box.

The sixdof does look interesting. I do like the low level design. Most sixdof rigs seem to be very tall. Would be even more wires though.

Not easy to design/build a reasonably performing 6DOF that is suitable for the 'masses' at a good price/profit. Allot more to go wrong then the relatively simple 2/3 DOFs designs. I wish them all the best

That video you posted has been around for quite some time. I think I came across that clip over a year ago.

    They are finishing it up.
So in 1 month or so there will be an update for the p3 for making the p3 ( 3 dof), become a p6 (6 dof).

That sounds great. I've just emailed Igor for some more information.

What has he told you about the upgrade? Any information other than the video you posted?

I'm sure it will be fine.

Unfortunately, DofReality are being pretty tight lipped about the upgrade and not giving any information. I guess they have to keep their design secret but I want to know what they are offering.

    Pretty tempting though

Let me just check my Piggy Bank

Quality will be OK I guess. You get what you pay for. Buying something similar would be very expensive.
You have seen my issues I've had with DofReality over the year or so. There has been problems but they have been resolved. I suspect over the last year DofReality have learnt a thing or two and are likely offering a better product

Initial Dof3 price was a little less (but a year ago) but the upgrade is what Igor just offered me. So I guess they are not screwing with you.

    Hi,
I’ve almost got my rig working how I want but when playing DCS it tends to judder when doing a roll. I’ve been advised that I need to balance the rig (it’s a P3). Any suggestions on how to balance the rig if you don’t have 2 people to hold it?

    Thanks
