    The MaxFlight VR2002 (My 1st Love)

    Originally running Windows XP with an OmniTech Robotics Board this was one of the best machines with the most realistic motion on the market... BACK IN 1998!

    The boss set me up for the challenge and (as of today) I almost succeed with a full blown Arduino conversion.

    Today (11/15/2017) the simulator can follow just about in game at 5ms Telemetry data output. It's capable of doing 90 Degrees/sec (pitch and roll) EXTREMELY FAST! With the 2 seater capsule and ride vehicle weight of roughly 3000lbs I refuse to spin it that quickly (it's scary)

    To cut to the nitty gritty, here's my first love

    The first day I saw her

    Moving her Out

    Moving her in
    IMG_20160215_103925_609.jpg IMG_20160215_155740_188.jpg
    And so it Began... on April 16 2016
    IMG_20160218_211150_638.jpg

    When I installed her ... Video Quality was lack (360 by 240 MAYBE), Motion was slow, and there was 3 tracks to pick from

    Well someone didn't Back up the ORIGINAL Hard drive Correctly (ME) ... and so I took the opportunity to implement my dream!

    (MORE to come but I have to run)

    I'll add more on my maxflight Soon!

    After I originally fixed the Maxflight, my boss was impressed and decided to throw me another challenge...

    Nice one, but this belongs in the Commercial sim section.

    Our admin @Pit can move it for you when he has a free moment.

    @Alex Reno
    Formula 1 is 98% running (my oculus died) but the motion ride and controls are done
    The 3 Nascars are in the works, Army (the prototype) has been (re)wired, hydraulics ran, and controls are working but still working on smoothing out the motions and work out a couple other things I just discovered

    I'll try to keep these threads up to date but you can check me out on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/charles.w.hein) i post updates frequently

    Hi Charlie (and others)

    I'm in the process of seriously considering purchasing this same simulator (VR2002) that is about 20 years old be in nice shape. It was at the Carnegie Institute then donated to a local science institute and now they are selling it and I'm interested for my church (to attract outside youth, etc). However, I little knowledge about how to set it up, and while the seller will help a little with this part of it, I'd like to be able to enhance the features such as more real coaster videos, better graphics, and maybe even flight simulation. Is it possible to enhance the computer hardware and software and sync in back to the mechanics of the machine itself?

    Thanks

    @Charlie Hein

    I've been trying to reach you using Facebook but I figured I try here even though the post covering your VR2002 adventure is pretty dated.

    I have a chance to purchase a VR2002 that is within driving distance of my home but the problem I have is my workshop where the VR2002 would be used has a ceiling height of 10 Ft only. If I remove the plastic counterbalance cover do you think I could operate the VR2002 within my 10ft ceiling area?

    Also, if I do purchase the VR2002, I will pretty much haul it like you did yours. Did you experience any problems hauling the load with your Tundra or any trailer strain?

    I hope you will respond so I can make a purchase decision before the new year.
