I built a very basic seat mover with the Tronic hardware quiet a few years ago. Never got beyond prototype stage, got busy with other things.

I've since bought a HTC Vive and resumed simracing, which has prompted me to get back into my project.

I still had the original prototype seat + motors, but my old tronic board - well I couldn't really find the software or instructions for it as all links were dead, and it looks like the community has moved on significantly anyway. So I purchased an Arduino and Sabertooth 2x32 to get myself going. Setup was easy! It's now working with Simtools 2.0 but I don't yet have a licence, though will soon.

As you can see in the attached pics, I've got some old wiper motors and just mounted to an MDF board for now. Once I have my prototype working, I'll weld up a proper steel frame and also invest in some of the Motion Dynamics motors. Seat is a spare from an NC Mazda MX5, though I'll replace with something better soon.

I'll be building the frame such that once I have 2DOF sorted, I'll be able to convert into 2DOF + Traction Loss without too much trouble.

Hopefully as soon as I get Simtools running, I'll have some good results.

You have come to the right place, there is a very active DIY motion community here.

Be sure the wiper motors are ground isolated: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/wiper-motor-mandatory-ground-isolation.25/

In a compact design the wipers don't have much design leverage and may well struggle under load. A shoulder or foot mount design would suit them better.

I am looking forward to following your project progress.
