    Hi to all
After i have read many and many pages of projects in this forum, i decided to start a my project.

My idea is to build a low cost F1 dedicated 3dof cockpit simulator, with real dimensions and with traction loss.

For fun, i have made in the last years a F1 replica , with real measures and perfectly working (in fiberglass, with steel chassis inside and complete of CBR RR900 engine) so i have the moulds and make another cockpit is not a problem

As many of new project, as first step, i decided to start with a simple configuration with :
    - Arduino uno Rv3
    - 2x Moto Monster
    - 3X 12V wiper dc motor
    - 2x psu 12V 30A
    - Game : AssettoCorsa

The objective is to learn, learn and learn how the simulator can work, the pro and cons of each configuration and in this route, if i can be useful, it will be a pleasure.

Reading many projects (thanks to racingMat for his project , the code and to all for the info and tips read), i have built the first hardware that in these days i'm testing and seems to be ok.
Of course i will have problems but i'm sure to solve reading and asking

First Hardware - in testing but works
first step.jpg, not beautiful but works with the game.....after will be beautiful...

Now i will start the chassis and cockpit construction

I look forward to following your project.

Just a couple of initial observations:

You will need to make sure the MMs are cooled, or they will not last long: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/xilence-cooler-for-moto-monster-sparkfun.211/

Wiper motors are no particularly powerful and hence while a full cockpit may look nice it will certainly hurt performance. Have a play with SimCalc to get your head around some of the physics involved and how they relate to design decisions: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...e-linear-speed-and-forces-of-your-design.270/

    Hi
thanks a lot for your tips

About the cooler, of course i have bought some coolers for all the parts and i will add them in then next days
In this first step , i wanted to do a test to see that all works

Thanks for the second link that is important to understand.
As i said, before to do a good work i think is foundmental to learn, learn, learn and reading the Others projects and all the tips written from expert like you. Thanks

In the firts step i use 12V wiper motor, to test and because are very low cost parts (with 50€ i have all the parts to test and with the same price i think to have the steel chassis built ).

In the second step i will use the same wiper motor but at 24V, with arduino and 24V bridge

After, if the performance will not be good as i think, i would want to use Dc motor 24V, at least 30Nm and at least 120Rpm, with arduino and sabertooth bridge (in this case, the cost are more more high but acceptable for a low cost F1 cockpit)
I would want to see if i can use DYI linear actuator, 200mm/s at least but we will see (i have seen many homemade linear actuator that seem good)

    Step by step
    Thanks

    hi
i have seen your project. Very Good job. Is it complete now?

About your question, i don't know exactly the weight of all the rig because the steel frame is not done until now
The idea of the structure is similar to your project but with traction loss and lower from the ground.

The VTR F1 cockpit total weight is about 18Kg (tube + floor+ half of engine cover and racing carbon seat)

When i will complete the steel frame structure i will let you know the total weight
    I hope is useful

the sim is working and moving with RF1 - i have been using a logitech wheel but have since built a DD wheel

i have not worked on the sim this year but since last time i used it i now have a projector and panhard bar fitted and an eye tracker

i have bought RF2 but have not had time to test it - may need a more powerful pc

i plan to get it finished when i find some time lol

next up is the other f3 tub (i got them both at the same time) i may try a 6dof

would be nice to have 2 working tubs so i can race my son :)

you can see a video here --

    nice video.very good.
It's a sin that is not complete as you want but i understand the problem of find the time to dedicate to it.
I have the same problem .......

This week i try to finish the structure and the next week i would want to test it
After, i will build the cockpit from the mould
    I hope.....
    we will see
