Don`t know wether I`m on the wrong track right now but maybe some guys can have a look into what I´m after:

I want to control a real dashboard, mainly tach, speedo and temp gauge. In the Wiki I`ve found several ways to do so but I though about something more simple. I`ve got me a nice dashboard with fully electronical gauges, means no mechanical input whatsoever. The gauges need a square-shaped signal of 5Vss ranging from 0 up to 500Hz- this should be easily to obtain from any soundcard or onboard sound controler. So why using shrieking servos to control gauges?

So what I`m looking for is somebody who`s able to convert the software code which can be downloaded from the Wiki/projects section in a way that the soundcard doesn`t output PWM anymore but rather a simple FM rectangular signal in an adjustable frequency range like mentioned above. Unfortunatly I don´t have any knowledge about Delphi or other computer languages so I need the help from somebody else on this! :(

Would be great if somebody is willing to take a look, if I`m wrong in my expectations please answer as well and tell me why it would be the wrong way!

    Any help would be nice,

    CU,
    Wolfgang

    Hello Jadran,

thank you for your answer! I`m familiar with that company but thought I could save some bucks by just using a simple soundcard and some code...... I`ve tested my dash and it turned out that it needs 3.1kHz to equal 280km/h, simple rectangular waveform, 5Vss. And here´s what made me think about my project: I`ve done all this testing using a little programm which turns my soundcard into a tone generator! I´ve downloaded it for free on the www- so the missing link is just some code that modifies the relevant data from the sim to control my soundcard, that´s it.

I guess Sirnonname has already done something very much alike, but unfortunatly he modified it in a way to control noisy servos which IMHO is a progressive way to march back into the past.... :thbd:
