Hi looking at buying a Gear Shifter for my simulator.
I currently using Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 Wheel Integral T500 RS https://www.gamesmen.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/13582 Wheel and pedals on my simulator have no gear lever , only pedals on wheel.
I am looking at buying the Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ V 1.5 have to wait till end of February before here in Australia http://www.fanatec.com/au-en/shifters/clubsport-shifter-sq-au.html
Because it looks solid ,and has the H pattern and with a turn, turns into a sequential Shifter .
Just worried about compatibly with games ,as you need to buy a ClubSport USB Adapter for the 7 gear to work .

The other one, that may be ok, would be Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter but it does look as soild, and when you have change to sequential to H pattern you need to take cover of with Allen key.

Can I get opinion's of other people on xsimulator, what they think, or have experience with , you may know better one as long as available in Australia ,They both cost around same money?
    Thanks domenic

Both are reasonable choices @hyper1966. I personally like the Fanatec gear but don't have any experience with potential compatibility issues.

I played the Thrustmaster now a longer period and it works well. No compatibility issues at all. Good quality, nice design, reliability and the dual function are great deals. Switching from SQ to H-pattern is done in 2 minutes, if the SQ was already configured before you have nothing more to do. NTL I prefer the Thrustmaster as a H-sifter, as a result I ordered a separate SQ shifter by Frex because IMO as a SQ-shifter it is a bit to much compromise. Saying no problems but I prefer something more professional. So far for what I have seen and read the Fanatec is a very good shifter and if you can buy it perhaps you should choose it.

I havent use thrustmaster, but I did get to try the fanatec. I thought it was quite good in sequential mode. Sturdy and solid .

Hands down the CSS is THE shifter to have, It has Much more "feel" to it compared to the TM shifter and Overall is a SOLID built unit, No cheap plastic on the CSS thats for sure. Weighs in at roughly 5+lbs, so All metal construction.

Now If you dont own a Fanatec wheel, I DO NOT suggest the fanatec USB adapter, Its had its fair share of issues and i would recommend this http://www.basherboards.com/FS1 From Jon at Basherboards, Awesome Community member and is a Stand up guy. As a matter of fact he sold me my CSP back a couple years.

Also Ask yourself this, What Car on this planet has a 7 speed H pattern. maybe .01% so Imo the 7th gear is rather moot.

That's an interesting question. Maybe more than you think but I'm curious too. Heck, even the cheap Corvette is a 7-speed now.

Was not the primary question, but this monster piece of shifter is real and sweeps away all other shifters above ;) IMO we should use H and SQ shifter separately [EDIT] due to the different design of the shifter [/EDIT].

...and if I do not need the 7th gear I shift as alway like a 5 gear shifter or what anything else, IMO only the matter of getting used to it.

700$ for a Chunk of billet, a couple spring's and a Micro switch does NOT compute o_O Yes i will agree that placement with a Uni shifter like the CSS is critical. Ive actually been tempted to get a custom made shifter nob that will essentially bring the shifter up to a more SQ style, as having the shifter Mounted to the seat itself for H pattern use is Critical imo.
