    3DOF
Hi from the uk i came across this forum thanks to D Max YouTube channel. I’ve been looking at a motion sim for a few years and thought I’ve got a few weeks off for Christmas I’m going to give it ago. So I headed to YouTube as I always do where I found D Max’s videos. he explains the whole process so well I’m got the bug and I’ve spent the last few days in the garage bending tubes and welding my rig.

As of right now my rig will consist of a old cheap bucket seat gaming chair a Logitech G923 wheel and pedals no gear shifter yet and a bunch of 1”1/2 and 1”1/4 tube bent welded to creat a cockpit.

You start with a bunch of stuff, make a base, fit the seat

bend some tube, look at it for a considerable amount of time time, swear a bit and bend some more. Then a couple of notches with the grinder a quick tack here and there and your half way to a racing sim.

This is where I’m at as of right now any suggestions on wheel height would be great and I will be mounting the pedals inverted. I’m waiting on my harness to come in the next few days and to start I’m only going to be having one motor to tension the belt on braking as I have a uno and a old wiper motor in the shed already all I will need to order is a motor driver.

So for anyone in the uk I’m on the look out for 3 motors for movement I can buy in the uk and all suggestions are welcome no matter what it is.

    thanks

I've got the steering wheel base plate (the plate the steering wheel attaches to) 22cm above the seat measured from the seat front section.

I think it might be worth spending some extra time to design a way to adjust the position of the wheel and pedals forward and back, in case you want to give someone a ride.

Your frame looks great. Probably as strong as a full on roll cage!

Thanks it will probably survive any crash it will be in lol I’m going to start with the pedals and get them in a nice place I think first then on to wheel. Adjustability is one thing I’m going to look into as you know the kids will want to have ago.
