    Hello everyone.
i have 2 NLR V1.0 seat movers/ motion platforms, they no longer support these older units, and they will not work on their latest platform manager.
I would like to know if it would be possible to make a new controller for them with an Arduino + motor controllers and use Sim tools.

or would there be a way to use the existing controllers with Sim tools.

thanks in advance for any input.
    cheers.

What hardware do they use, both for motors and controllers?

So 24v, are those pots or limit switches on the actuator?

Can an Arduino, with 2 IBT2 motor controllers and software like SMC3 and simtools drive linear actuators and slide potentiometers?

The best way to find out is to try it, as the components are cheap enough, and you have nothing to lose.

Yes those look like what you need. A couple of things to think about. The IBT2’s don’t come with thermal paste on the heat sinks so you may want to take off the heat sink and apply some.

also I only run 12v, but I have heard that with 24 volts the Motor Drivers can heat up quickly. Those that run them usually limit the power to something more like 19 volts to keep things cool.

The drivers would also benefit from active cooling with a fan to keep air moving.

ok thanks i will order the parts,
i plan to put the Arduino and IBT2's in a enclosure with a fan to keep them cool as i will be running 24V

dose this basic diagram look like the correct way i would need to wire up my arduino, IBT2's and actuators?

ok so i got in contact with motion systems, they are the oem for the nlr motion platforms.
they have provided me with a legacy version of the platform manager and i have been able to test the motion platforms with live for speed and ACC. So i now know that both of my nlr platforms work, these units do not work with any of the later versions of there software. so the question is would any of the brains trust here know if it would be possible to develop a plugin to get other games working. i am willing to provide the software to anyone that is interested.

It really is about knowing how communication is handled, and that is likely to be proprietary, but you could ask nlr for that information and see how they respond, given it is an obsolete platform now.

It is about interfacing, here is the pertinent SimTools V3 info to pass on to nlr: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...gin-for-simtools-3-0-api-documentation.17765/

Hi, I was always wondering if it's a strange feeling in this type of motion platform to when only your seat moves and pedals and wheel not? I'm curious if there are strange feeling of not enough, how to call it, "rigidity" when driving only seat mover??

doesn't feel strange at all, and really increases the immersion of the game, gear changes and acc / breaking effects are really nice.

Im talking about twusting feeling between your torso an legs during roll movement. And getting your knees closer to your chest during pitch. None of these are problem for you?

I already have 2dof motion platform but looking for cheapest option for my nephew.
