    I’ve got a 1000w 24v 42a PSU, a generic wiper motor, arduino uno, and a BTS7960. With psu powered off, I open up SMC3Utils. it connects to the Arduino fine, and I get data in the smc3 window. Then power on psu, and still everything works, the motor moves, follows the potentiometer, reverses, ect.
    now the problem is, when I try to connect to SMC3Utils with the psu powered on. It won’t connect and forces me to abort, retry, or ignore. Am I going to have to power up the arduino and connect to SMC3Utils before turning on the psu everytime? Or am I making a simple mistake?

    Can you please post pictures of all settings and any error messages.

    I am just checking, is the wiper motor 24v?

    The motor voltage may be a separate matter, but the error message looks to be Coms related, unfortunately the error message is covering the SMC3 Com port display.

    Presuming coms may be an issue, have you tries a different USB port and USB cable? Keep in mind that different USB ports may be connected to the same USB controllers, so you may need to map what is connected where: https://xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-usb-issues-can-cause-crashes.313/

    Also check for wiring that may be inducing electrical interference. Clip on Ferrite magnets are helpful.

    hello!

    just a thought, to why the usb pci/e card could be fried and troubles with arduino connection in a setup like we use here;

    arduino over usb is problematic when it comes to em noise, if the house installation is not wired properly. make sure the psu has ground/earth so too should have the pc, and have a look, most usb cables that come in the cheap kits do not have proper shielding. (check continuity with a voltmeter of the plug outer metal on both ends to be sure with a multi meter) if the wire is too long, it can pickup quite some noise, micro controller don't like that.

    the most extreme example would be my cnc plamsa cutter, but even something "small" as a 250w router spindle from china, that is also powered with pwm managed to break connection sometimes.

    best indication for problems in that regard would be, if you ever had a small electric shock when you plug in or out a usb device on the chassis itself. it tuck me a while here to realize that some rooms in our house didn't had ground
