    My Motion Simulator:
    SCN6
    Hi All,

New to this and trying to setup a motion rig I just bought.
It's the SCN6 actuators 3 axis, 2 up front and one in the rear.

So I purchased the SimTools Pro edition.
in SimTools v2, I cannot get any of the actuators to move.
I have used the plugin installator to add the SCN plugin, however I do not have the SCN option in the pull down tab in setup. It lists all the other brands but not SCN.

So I moved on to trying to get v3 working.
After configuring all the ports and settings I was able to finally get 2 actuators moving on Axis 2a and Axis 3a.
1a which is my COM6, does nothing during boot up and also in testing.
I tried moving the control boxes around to see if its the actuator possibly or the control box, but they never seemed to be able to work a different actuator. I can see the green like is on for all 3 of my SCN6-040-100B-A-NA control boxes. The COM ports disappear from Device manager as I unplug them so they are all being detected by the PC.

I've spent almost a dozen hours trying to figure this out reading posts etc but does not seem anybody has this exact issue.
    What can I do next?
I'm considering installing on another PC just to test, but i'm not sure that will help.

How can I get SimTools v2 to show the SCN plugin?

Or even better how can I get v3 to work my 3rd actuator?

Any suggestions at this point would be great.

    Thanks

What SCN plugin are you talking about and where did it come from, as the standard SCN Interface options are built into SimTools v2?

I'll have to double check where I got it from but yes when I pull down that menu I have all the options except SCN.
Come to think of it maybe after I used the plug in update it might have removed it from that list. I can't recall for sure but it might have been there when I first installed simtools 2.
I got the plug in from simtools us/plug in_library/ under interface then SCN dynamic systems.

You can't use SimTools v3 plugins with v2.

@yobuddy can you please advise if this is recoverable or if it is easier to just uninstall and reinstall SimTools?

Just to be sure i would start over and reinstall.

Are you configuring 1 scn acuator per interface?
(So you are using 3 interface settings?)

I actually removed all apps and did re-install, however I noticed that when I did my licenses were still valid in the apps, before I even entered the keys. So I guess the uninstall didn't completely remove the programs.

I'll try googling on how to do a clean removal and re-install.

    Yes I'm adding one actuator per Interface, 1, 2,3 (1a, 2a, 3a).

In v3 I am able to get axis 2a and 3a moving in test, but 1a was always dead. Control boxes on all 3 actuators show power light on, and when I removed them from the PC the COM ports leave in Device manager. So the PC is showing all 3 ports.

This is normal, no sense wiping out the registration info with an uninstall of the app.

Swap the motors for 1a and for 2a and see where the problem goes.
Does 1a still not work? or is the problem now 2a?
    Chat soon!

    Hey,
So I had swapped the motors a few days ago, but I also had swapped the controllers.
I swapped the motor only this time and it works. So my box was the issue. I opened it up, and I believe the wire connector had come off. Put it back and all 3 are now working.
This is only in V3. I'm still having the v2 issues. I'll try uninstalling and not adding any plugins and see if that fixes it.

I thought with the v2 version you need to download and use the plugin installer to get everything working.

Much appreciated on the help and I hope this thread helps somebody who's having a physical problem like mine and gives them the courage to open the controller boxes to check connections.

Basically, V3 plugins can be installed directly in SimTools v3, or by downloading plugins from SimTools.us.
But all of the V2 plugins need to downloaded from xsimulator.net.
