Question PSU for Jazzy motor

    Hi,
    [Disclaimer: I suck at electronics/electricity, so explain to me like I am 5 :)]

    I have started sourcing parts for my 2DoF flight sim. I was able to pick up 2 Jazzy electric drive Motors 12-24VDC with the brakes removed (used). The motors do not have any voltage/amp ratings markings, but the wires are 10AWG (30 amps?). I hooked it up to my bench 13.8v 25amp switching power supply to get a no-load amp reading. The no load reading were a consistent 2-3 amps.

    Without the max-load amps, what's the best way to choose a power supply. This will be connected to my mains (US 110-120v with a 15amp breaker). I was looking at a MEAN WELL LRS-350-12 DC Switching Power Supply 12V 29A. Is this adequate/save for the motors/home?

    It's concerning that your motors lack voltage and amp ratings markings. However, the fact that you've measured a consistent 2-3 amps at no-load provides some insight. It's important to determine the maximum current draw under load for accurate power supply selection.

    Thanks - That's the plan. I picked up a Mean Well LRS-350-24 PSU, which is rated at 24v/14.6 amp. The PSU has overload protection and should suffice as long as SMC3 is configured to keep the motors in "range".

    When I get to the point of configuring and testing, I will definitely test the max loads.
