Hi, this is my first post. I currently run a SimXperience 3DOF rig but I'm looking to add compatibility with other gaming titles via simtools. I am also contemplating building a DIY G-Seat in the future. I have done a lot of reading prior to this post - this site is truly an amazing resource and the community here seems incredibly helpful and talented! I believe I now have a decent understanding of simtools and its amazing flexibility. I've got everything working in terms of interfacing with my SCN5s and I understand how to make axis assignments. I've got my first plugin working for nolimits 2, but I am confused about the co-ordinate system. I tried reading the appropriate resources but I'm still not sure that I setup my seat mover to respond correctly to the various inputs.

Can you guys please review my current seat movements below and correct any of my mistakes?

When testing output via DOF, this is what my seat currently does.

Pitch 100% (slider to the right) --> my seat tilts forwards
Pitch -100% (slider to the left) --> my seat tilts backwards

Surge 100% (slider to the right) --> my seat tilts backwards
Surge -100% (slider to the left) --> my seat tilts forwards

Sway 100% (slider to the right) --> my seat tilts to the right
Sway -100% (slider to the left) --> my seat tilts to the left

Roll 100% (slider to the right) --> my seat tilts to the right
Roll -100% (slider to the left) --> my seat tilts to the left

Heave 100% (slider to the right) --> my seat tilts forwards
Heave -100% (slider to the left) --> my seat tilts backwards
(I want to approximate Heave UP by having seat tilt backwards)

Please let me know if I need to change my seat's response to any of the inputs above. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!

    Steve

Thanks Noorbeast. I did read that FAQ but I think that's where I'm still confused. It looks like Sway and Roll should be opposing directions in a corner, but I'm not sure how to ensure that happens. For example, that FAQ says that when the car tilts right, the Roll slider moves right. But for a right turn, it says the roll slider moves left and sway moves right? That seems contradictory for me with regards to the Roll effect. I also am not sure about pitch and surge - should they be set up in opposite or similar directions?

I know I'm totally confused here so I'd really appreciate it if you could possibly correct my current seat motions that I indicated above. (Eg. When testing DOF output and roll is 100% to the right, should me seat move right?) I think that will best help me understand the FAQ and correctly set up my sim.

Did you check the virtual axis, as per the link?

Let me give you the practical example, which you can test in-game. When you turn right the seat should sway left, in the virtual axis the roll slider will move to the left and the sway slider moves to right. If you run over a curb on the left side the seat should roll right, hence the virtual axis roll slider moves to right.

Ok thanks for that example. Using the same example when making a right turn, if I only use the sway effect and zero roll, the virtual sway axis moves to the right. which way should my seat actually tilt with only the sway effect - to the right?

The seat will sway left in your right turn example.

Ok. Thanks very much. With your help, I'm going to reread everything and have a go at it again.

Or just turn your rig on and test it one axis/force at a time.
