    Hey guys,
Been trying to source parts and have a question on seats...Its difficult to find the actual weight of seats online but I am obviously trying to keep weight as low as possible. Are fixed back seats generally a bit lighter in weight than the reclining ones?

Thanks @yobuddy ! That's a good option to keep weight and cost down! I do really like the look of the black and red though.

    Hello JBoogie!

I agreed with yobuddy's opinion at beginning
but for my next sim, I'll have more comfort and adjustments : I like being at ease while playing 1h30

Comes down to personal preference as well. I have used both types. No real difference in feel of motion, although a Baja Buggy seat would really transfer vibration through it easy.
I use a sports recliner on my current ride, firm, comfortable, but I still get the fine motion. The other sim has the fixed position seat.Holds me better though, but I dont find it as comfortable.
Then again, I know of a bloke that uses a 30kg car seat on his with all the adjustments and vibration dampening. But thats what he likes.
As for playing for 1-2 hours, yes, some form of comfort is nice and set the motion so you still have teeth and no shattered bones helps.

One last note on a fixed seat.

    Although it may not be a huge factor for a lot of simulators;
If your simulator really needs to be balanced to function properly, using a fixed seat is the way to go.
Because with an adjustable seat, the user can change the center of gravity buy altering the seat position.

Thanks guys! Good point @yobuddy about the balance being affected by reclining.

BTW - I did a little more digging and finally figured out what I think is the weight for the two seats in the first post. The recliner is 28 lbs and the fixed seat is 20 lbs.

I have used the same thing for years as @yobuddy has shown, super light and super strong, but can be a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours driving in it, but it doesnt absorb any of the motion the rig produces. Which is a big bonus compared to a sprung seat.

    Yes, Mine did.
I believe all of the Poly Highback Seats are about the same.
The difference may only be your selection of seat covers per brand.
If you are going to add the seat padding later, you may want to take a look at each brand and see which brand has the seat cover you like.
