    Hi All,
we're bulding a full scale realistic driving simulator. We are having a professional motion base (6 dof) and want to complete it with a set-up like a "half-car".
Can anybody suggest a commercial solution that would work for that?

    Added Detail:
    - The motion base is an ElectoMechalical hexapod (max payload 1800 kg) with 600 mm (24 inch) stroke electric actuators
    - The type of vehicle we're considering is a regular road car
    - Aim of the project is to reconstruct traffic scenarios and emergency maneuvers (not racing of F1)
    - To create an immersive feeling i would aim at a cabine secion + screens, but also a gaming-like cockpit + headset (e.g. OculusRift) could work. As a note the assembly should be robust enough to sustain ~1g accelerations.
    - Budjet: ~5 k

What professional motion base (6 dof) is to be used and what is its load capacity?

When you say "half-car" do you mean the front, or the cabin section and what style of car, open F1 or something else.

What is the anticipated budget? I know it would be very expensive.

You really need to provide far more specific info than just a general outline. As a starting place have a look at the various 6DOF here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/what-kind-of-simulator-for-me.16/

1800Kg, 6DOF and a Professional motion base. I don't think 5K will cut it (maybe as a deposit).

5K wont even buy 6 motors cable of those weight combined.

It seems i was yet not clear: we have already a professional motion base (6 dof). The vehicle cockpit story is the part we are missing.

You could consider a small vehicle like the Smart Car or perhaps a failed fiberglass kit car project, or pull molds off a car body. The key aim would be to keep it light.

Indeed it is a possibility, but I'm looking for a non DIY solution. Do you know of any "off the shelf" set-up like that?

No and nor do I think you would find one within the budget you have available.

If you are forced down the DIY path @markguby there are still options.

I do a lot of work with young people and many would find building a car cabin for a motion simulator, under suitably qualified/skilled leadership, a very attractive/exciting project. So perhaps talk to your local tech college if you have no other options.
