    hi all!

since my room is small, i wanted to add a motion controller to my officechair. it has 2 advantages and a lot of downsides, but thsoe 2 advantages conviced me to go for this solution:

    1) since the tilting point is in the middle for my wight a momentum of 10000 Nmm is enough, i have a bosh motor (62W) wich can have on a proper reduction a momentum of 62500 Nmm.

    2) no need of free room.

the biggest downside is that you can have only forward/backward motion. but still better then notihg.

now the main problem is that i have the motor, but nto the gearbox. the motor makes 1200 U/min i would like to reduce them to 60/ min so the chair would go from max front to max back in 0.5 seconds. do you think it is fast enough or not?

so basically what i need is a gearbox with a ratio of between 10/1 and 20/1 and the motor axle is 8 mm. any idea where i could buy them for a reasonable price?

    thank you

    regards

    Hi,

Well, I cannot tell you where to get cheap gearboxes, but I would recommend you to use wiper motors for the initial tries.

In particular for your office seat project you dont need more travel lenght than wipers provide, they are very cheap and have self locking wormgears.

    Regards
