    hi all,

I got this bracket for my racing seat:

Does anyone know how to remove the inner slide rails?

They are not a specific brand, just " universal car seat sliders"

They slide out so far, but can't see any lock pin or friction catch to push/ pull...

    Thanks.

    Archie

They move like an asthmatic elephant, so was going to put some better grease on them.

Managed to get them apart. It has a plastic bar that you jam with a screw driver as you slide and it jumps over the end bearing.

Only need them to slide when my son is on the platform. Will CG the frame from static

Holy crap, I have an idea. You could possibly use seat sliders to do surge. Might not be the first to think of it but Ive only seen one rig that does surge where the rig moves forward and back. Might not work right with just my seat mover though.

If you do make sure you get better sliders then these pieces of crap. They had "grease" on them but it may as well have been honey!!

I also thought about that @shannonb1 and indeed I think @noorbeast has used linear rails to achieve the same with his controls. Could easily be changed to a seat with some 40kg servos.

look up @SeatTime thread for his build using linear rails for surge table.
Seat rails are not designed for use like a surge table, they are used for simple adjustment on a seat.
There would be too much modding going on to make it worthwhile
    Just use linear rails

I use linear rails on mine, but they are relatively expensive.

    @noorbeast: nice pictures! :)
can you explain further what you're doing? I can see long rails but very short throw servo motors.

    Thanks @RacingMat.

I have business obligations over the next couple of months so with my limited time I have been focused on getting the sim basics sorted, along with finding some plugin challenges. I have all I need to finish off the quasi surge plate except for time at the moment, but will get back to the it as soon as I can. @eaorobbie has already kindly offered to help me get the RC code running, so I don't expect it will take long once we get to it.

@bsft : still convinced by yourself that I'm earning some money on stolen knowledge...
    Do not be insulting:
    - All I know, I'm sharing it on the forum: guides, tutorial, code, pictures, videos...
    - I have no business. I only sold my first 2DOF playseat 600€ and first DIY wheel 890€, nothing more! and no profit in both cases (part's price).
