I have plan of building playseat for my school project. Firstly i was just thinking of tachometer, handbrake, gear indicator, shifter and seat. Now i have been searching info for hours and watched many tutorials about motion stuff. Dad told me that its going to be too expencive and pointless thing but i think it would be a good/interesting challange for me and now i am here asking for free diy licence. I know places where i could get cheap motors, i have built different arduino projects so microcontroller shouldn t be big problem , i have seat from old mercedes, but then i saw that i must buy simtools software as well. Now the coolest part of my playseat is stuck behind that licence. So yeah, hope my not very good english is not so bad that you cant understand.

If you are seeking build, hardware and software information to get you started, then look in the FAQs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

We have a glossary for all those acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

There is an eligibility criteria to qualify for a free License:

    • You must be building a true DIY motion simulator. (Not built from a kit or purchased from a simulator seller, a model simulator does not qualify.)
    • Have a unique build thread or Showcase in DIY Simulator Projects. (The thread should show some effort, which means it should show progress to the testing phase.)
    • Have been a member of the community for at least 30 days.

The demo version of SimTools 2 has a fully operational copy of the Live For Speed plugin, specifically for the purpose of testing: https://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/

As weight is an issue for performance (see racingmatts tutorial in the FAQ) and Mercedes generally = heavy I would see if you can find a racing seat or a lighter seat as most old luxury car seats were built painfully heavy for comfort and safety.

Is there some free/cheaper sowftwares available somewhere?
Without motors it would be boring but i must start building as soon as possible. I dont know now should i build it without motors or ready to add motors or just steady forever seat.
Actually i might get wheelchair motors for free then iam going to buy simtool software for sure.
Wasting too much for this project would be pointless, cause i dont know how much im gonna use it afterwards.

That mercedes seat is pretty heavy yeah
I have lighter office chair as well if needed.
