By leaving the SCN5 interface window open, I noticed that altough I have 160 outs/s sometimes, the data flowrate drops for the most time to 50-60 outs/s, which decreases motion quality a lot.

Now I wonder which are the relevant factors that affect the adapter speed (outs/s).

CPU load is constantly arround 60% (core2quad)
FTDI driver downloaded from their homepage

    Settings
    SCN5 interface: 1,0,70ms
    Profiler art.break: 1ms
    Sender: 1ms
    COM-port: 9600 baud

Btw, did someone got >200 outs/s with that cheap, blue, ebay adapter?
Just want to be sure that the problem are the adapters, before spending money on other ones.

    regards

Try it with a higher baud rate and see if it improves anything. These days a snail goes faster than 9600 baud. :)

The adapter description recommends 9600. However, increasing to 19000 didnt improve the speed at all.
Could it be a task priority issue with the FTDI driver perhaps?

    regards

X-Sim overrides the baud rate set in the driver so this setting is not important. The other timing settings do matter though. With the SX-3000, which also uses FTDI, I customized the driver and the default settings to result in better performance.
