Hi All, I'm a regular at ISRTV forums and now getting into motion so have been reading here and seeing how amazing this community is.

I wanted to ask your opinions on a seat for a motion rig. I currently have a seat from an RX7. It lacks bolstering around the shoulders but has decent bolsters at the legs and hips. Should I be considering a racing bucket seat for motion? I'm looking to get the most out of the cues that the motion provides against the body to pick up on game G forces and without a GS4 seat I am thinking I'd have to get a proper racing seat.

Hello @Sebj , welcome , good to see you made the transition from ISRTV forums, considering how argumentative they are against DIY motion. Static motion is fine over there. DIY motion is not welcomed.
As for the seat, well a cheap set of racing belts to hold you in would help if the seat has no real sides to it. Actual racing seats can be cheap or expensive, just hunt around.
Im curious, what does the RX7 seat weigh? Ideally under 15kg for a seat is good.
Also, have you considered what sort of frame you might design? Including what control boards, motors, etc.
    Dave.

Hey @bsft , thanks for the reply.

I am not sure the weight, would have to detach it. From what I recall I'd say 15kg for sure if not a bit more.

I am researching motors etc. I will start a proper thread on that soon. I'm getting help from Stephen with the frame. @Avenga76 is my inspiration.

I will get a proper racing harness for sure. I still think I'd need shoulder bolsters. Maybe someone on the forum with a car seat on a motion rig could shed some light on my decision. I may go with this seat first if it comes to $ and upgrade if I don't like it.

A seat with more side bolsters would help yes, I have a recliner with some side bolsters on my personal ride, but more proper racing seats on my 2 hire rides, so yes, more support does help
