    Hello !

I'm in trouble with my system, I'm using simtools with a SCN5 actuator and an Arduino to convert USB/RS485
and I want verify I have a signal in Output of my computer.
If I have a signal, my RX led should blinking but there is nothing.
When I use SER(serial) in Game engine, I have a signal but not with SCN. Has someone an idea of why that doesn't works ? I followed the differents tuturial, I don't understand...

    Thank you ! ^^

That is not the problem (I think). I have no signal on input of my Arduino, that means Simtools doesn't send game's informations on the com port

I found no help about my problem in this thread :/
Does Simtools need to detect a specific name of com port to work ?

No specific name, but it does need to be a com port below 10.

@nclabs is the SCN guru, so may be able to assist further. My guess is that the problem is in whatever you have set up that varies from the linked guide.

I think that the problem is on the Arduino coding, and I have no experience with that. I advice you to buy some standard USB-RS485 converter, they are very cheap and have no issues.

I don't think about that, when I use the serial fonction on GameEngine, game's data are received by Arduino and send in output of the RS485 converter.
The problem should come from simtools or my computer...

    What could I verify ?

So, you are sure that the data that comes out of simtools are sended to the SCN5? In that case it can be a wiring issue, I have no idea on why it should be a simtool's or your computer's fault.

If it's possible, could someone take measures of the differents bytes send in actuator's input with an oscilloscope or a different way ? Then I could change my code in Arduino to modify the signal in output of my RS485 converter.

i would agree with @nclabs and just buy the usb-rs485 connectors. Im using them and they are basically plug and play.

In fact, i'm student in Electronic section, it's a project in class, I cannot buy a USB/RS485, that would be very too easy ! If I can find what data are received by SCN5 actuator, I can write a code in Arduino to change my input signal. Does Someone know where I can find this information ?

I wish I had an oscilloscope, but you can always buy one Usb converter and analyse what comes out of that, right?

How long have you been planning this project? Dont you think you have left it a bit late?
Not being rude but surely you have had more than a week

To decode the data coming out of the USB port - a typical oscilloscope will not help you, as it works at the physical/electrical layer and you will want to be looking higher than that. Ie you need a 'Protocol analyser'. Or nowadays, an app that let you read the USB data using a PC/Laptop. Should take you all of 5 seconds to find one on the web... Also, just my curiosity, what are you using the Arduino for as in itself it cannot convert the Arduino TTL output to RS485.

I built a Shield RS485 for Arduino which convert my signal in Arduino's output.
