Hi, I'm wondering if anyone is able to help me with a basic overview of how the rig communicates once setup.

I have some electronic brakes for my motors, which I need to control to release.

My motors are a 28:1 ratio so are not self locking. When the brakes don't have power, they are locked, and I will wire a switch to energise the brakes (take them off).

My question is that once my rig is setup (I'm still in the wiring stage), at what point will the motors energise?

Does the arduino remember the smc3 settings? Trying to home / idle position as soon as power is applied to the rig?

Does smc3 need to be started up every time I want to use motion?

Do the motors only attempt to home / center once simtools or a game is launched?

I hope this is clear, I don't want to be applying the brake at the incorrect time and trying to drive the motor through the brake.

    Tia

I suspect the easiest way to go is disable self locking, it is not needed.

The motors will go to their default position when SimTools powers up.

SMC3 is only used to setup and create the settings for SMC3, you never run it at the same time as SimTools, as that would create a port conflict.
