I just received a Bigscreen Beyond 2 as an upgrade from a Reverb G2 and had the following issues which are now mostly solved. Hopefully this can help others with tracking issues.

Problem: Immediate loss of tracking as soon as motion is turned on. ANYWHERE in a 5x4m room. I even tried running the Bigscreen Beyond 2 on a separate PC powered by a power bank and disconnected from everything else but in the same room, which worked until I got within a metre or so of the rig or the motion driver box and then immediate loss of tracking. If I connected anything to that PC that was on the same circuit as the motion then it would lose tracking. It was SEVERE!

I'm running an E-RACING LAB system with 5 actuators and a Thanos controller with AASD-15A drivers, and a Simagic Alpha wheel base (these are my big RF/EMI emitters). The AASD-15A drivers are in a powdercoated steel server case.

    • POWER BOARDS: Replaced power board driving the AASD drivers (this was faulty, caused about 80% of my issues - nothing below had ANY effect on the problem until I replaced this item.)
    • LINE FILTER: I used 5x Jaycar MS4001's (one for each driver) like the diagram.
    • STAR GROUND/EARTH: I earthed all of my AASD drivers from the units directly to one point in the server case and earthed the input of the filters to that as well.
    • CHOKES: Ferrite core rings LO1238's - two on the beyond cable (looped 7 times, just before the control box), one on each AASD driver -> Motor cable at the AASD end - one loop, one on the power cable at the direct drive wheel, one on the Thanos USB at the PC.
    • USB ISOLATOR: I used ADUM3165 unit at the PC for the Thanos USB.
    • ROTATE MOTORS: My stepper motors had non-shielded power cables for the pigtails. The rest of the cabling is sheilded (including power from the connection at the pig-tails to the drivers) but not the pigtails. I rotated them to face away from my driving position and headset. This helps a little, and each little bit adds up.

Result is that I can now use the motion without any glitches as long as I don't touch the headset in which case it greys out from EMI.

Plan is to do the following:
    - CHOKES: Chokes on everything - I'm adding clip-on ferrites like the Jaycar LF1294's on all USB's at the PC, and on all of the cables attaching to the AASD's (at the AASD's).
    - LINE FILTER: I'm adding a Schaffner FN2090 before the Jaycar MS4001's.
SHIELDED CABLE: I'm replacing the power-cable from the stepper motors with shielded 4-core cable.

Hopefully once this is done I'll be able to touch the headset while using it and I'll be almost completely covered. I'll report back as I complete the final parts of the project.
