    2DOF, Arduino
    Hi all,

So i have been thinking about building my own rig for a couple of years now.
And have decided to jump right in.

I would like to thank everyone who has posted here before upfront for inspiring and guiding me through this whole process.

I want to start a showroom/tutorial thread around my build, but would like to know a couple of things first:
    • Can I do a showroom and tutorial in the same thread?
    • Can i convert this thread into a showroom thread after a while?
    • I want to have a step by step guide for both a mini prototype (which i have already built) and the full final seat once it is done.
    • Do you need pictures at each phase or are guys fairly relaxed if the thread doesn't update to quickly?
    • My plan is to have the final build complete by mid-January next year, so i only have around 2 months to complete it.
    • My goal is to obtain a DIY licence for Simtools, and failing that at least enough coins to buy it plus Assetto Corsa's plugin file.

Plan of action: (might change as time goes on)

    Phase 1: Create mini prototype
    2DOF Seat Mover.
    - Lego
    - Arduino
    - Micro Servos x 2

    - Goals:
    1. Learn Simtools.
    2. Understand 2DOF Seat mover physics

Phase 2: Full Size Seat mover.
    - Server PSU's
    - JRK's x2
    - Windscreen Wiper Motors x2
    - Welded and bolted frame
    - Separate frame/stand for steering wheel pedals and gear lever

    - Goals:
    - Learn JRK's
    - Learn about Geared electric drives
    - Learn Basic Welding
    - Get the thing to work!

    Challenges:
    - No welding expeience
    - I live in South Africa, so parts are hard to come by and or expensive.

I will hopefully be updating the primary thread (or this thread if it becomes the main thread multiple times per week, as I am sure i will ahve many questions and will need a lot of assistance.
Wish me luck and I hope that you and others who read this site will find something useful.

It is great that you are thinking ahead on how to structure and format your build thread.

There is an eligibility criteria to obtain a free DIY license: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/request-a-free-diy-simtools-2-0-license.262/
    • You must be building a true DIY motion simulator. (Not built from a kit or purchased from a simulator seller, a model simulator does not qualify.)
    • Have a unique build thread or Showcase in DIY Simulator Projects. (The thread should show some effort, which means it should show progress to the testing phase.)
    • Have been a member of the community for at least 30 days.
How much detail and pictures you provide is up to you, threads are not normally a step by step guide but could be if you wanted to go that far. A thread does need enough detail that it is useful for others to qualify for a DIY license and each is judged on its merits.

Yes you can alter a Title and Prefix after a thread is created: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/change-a-thread-title-prefix.145/

The Showroom and Tutorial are just Prefixes that you can choose from in some of the threads title section drop downs, but you can't have two for a single thread:
