    Hi,
I'm considering building a V.R simulator (6DOF) mainly for racing and general gaming.

There's a Kick Starter campaign on right now that is offering

" Maker Muscle " The World's first customizable actuator for Makers.
Here's a link to the actuator CLICK HERE

It looks promising but I'm no expert when it comes to building a sim.

    Q. Would these actuators be able to handle an 85 kg adult ?

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at just the videos and expected specs - unfortunately too slow to drive a sim.

I'm under the impression that the pitch of the drive rod increases speed but there's a trade-off (higher pitch = a reduction in torque ) yes ??

I dont know there cost, but it,s nothing new.
You can buy actuaters for all motors with or without the motor.
The only thing is ,you must buy them by automotive speciallists.
You need to call them ,they dont sell online!

I'm guessing there's a calculation which generates results providing the best actuator for a given operation.

I need to understand approximately how how much force etc.. a simulator actuator requires to move a seated person.

most probably already available on this site yes ?

    • Force
    • Stroke Speed
    • transition speed end of stroke moving from push to pull etc.. ?

Not an easy thing to just calculate, as there are so many variables. For a start, go to the FAQ and Project area and see what has been shown to work in a design similar to what you want to build. There are both Ball Screw and Worm drive 6DOF projects shown on this site.
