It would be cheaper still with a single motor and using a tilting office chair.

ok, I have to be more precise, then :
"The cheapest 2DOF wooden DIY Simu with close to race position driving with non IKEA furniture".:D
But your IKEA seat idea is really smart !! Be carefull your back, some lumbago or lower back pain could happend.

As soon as I have switched from Sim1.3 to Sim2.0, I will do video, for sure.

As harsh as it may sound, I have to agree with Shannon on this one, some of those structural parts are very poorly assembled with Woefully undersized lumber and supports. It may last a few days, but surely wont stand the test of time.

I wonder how it looks when you are sitting in the seat? BTW don't be disappointed if something is not just perfect, while your design is pretty interesting in opposite to the stiffness which could be a point of any discussion :)

i would be more worried about that twisting...i imagine you are gonna break some POT/Hall Sensors and possibly some electronics at the same time. I also notice there are places where it looks like you measured wrong and then tried to make bracing straps. At least you got your electrons working which for many is the hardest part.

I ear some skeptical here !
But this has been built a year ago and more than hundred LFS laps have been done since then !
Yes, it craks like a old wooden ship but it goes thru the tempest.
This was just a try, not an ambitious rig project. I don't have a room for that. So it must be easily movable. And I don't have welding station.
It was more a PTIW than a DIY ! (PTIW stands for Pray that it works) but I learn a lot with that bunch of wood and with all your advices and articles on the site. Thanks a lot everyone !!

And I want to congratulate Silent Chill for his 6DOF rig ! It is amazing !

Here is a little video of my bloody rig in action :
