Hi All, what a great fountain of knowledge this place is. Its been most helpfull getting as far as i have with my rig and also my hovver board wheel... which is awsome, lol.

Anyways, I'm knocking up a 2 doff with some hefty wheelchair motors. It runs an Arduino to a mdds 30 ( ithink thats the one without checking) I used the arduino/mdds version from Blame73's thread.

Ive had smc3 running, and corrected all my little wireing mistakes and now the random motion work well with a nice tight green line on both motors. I can move them manualy with the sliders. Happy days :)

So ive pretty much wasted today trying to get movement from simtools V3. Its like simtools doesnt talk to the arduino. Ive read loads and seen all the settings that everyone else has posted for the same or similar settup.
In a desperate bid to sort it, i uninstalled simtools and reinstalled, olny to find an error...

    'Unable to extract Repo.zip'

    So question 1...
Is this a normal thing because i cant find a post about it? Or has anyone else got a clue? Ive had the plugins installed before the first time around with no issues, (LFS, 2 dof standard, serial interface) but now nothing shows in the repo and the error light/ icon is on.

    Q2...
im not clear if i should be doing something with the smc3 save data. Or is it that once its moving correctly, you dont need smc3 at all?

Ive deffo' missed a step i think but im not sure where just yet. Maybe it was just a usb glitchy thing but i cant rule it out because it wont install the repo, doh! I cant show the settings because they are now 35 miles away at work, lol.

    Cheers in advance,

    Slider.

    Hi @Slider46,
    Hope you are well.
I'm guessing you mean in the SMC3 app?

Know that the SMC3 app must be closed, or simtools can not connect to your arduino, as the comport is already open.

Sounds like something is blocking simtools from downloading the repo list. Maybe running simtools as admin one time will correct the issue? Otherwise adding simtools to the whitelist of your antivirus may be needed.

The smc3 app is only used to change the settings of the sketch and do some basic testing. Once your up and running, please make sure the smc3 app is closed before starting simtools.

Hi @yobuddy, Cheers for the reply.
Yeah, the smc3 app was definitly closed.

The pc is only used for driving simstuff and as such, i disabled all windows security incase that was the issue and there is no 3rd party AV. I'll recheck that tomorow though, they can be sneaky things to stop, and i'll try the admin thing too.
    Cheers, Slider.

Hi all, ive had some life stuff to do but just for the record... Uninstaled Sim Tools 3, then reinstalled using admin rights. All my plugin options were back and now installed. :)

As for the non communication.... i realised i am not using a rev3 Arduino Uno. It may be an issue but ive got one now so we'll see tomorow. Fingers crossed and all that.
