Hi, I am working on a simulator using recorded video. I am using a DJI action 4 camera, that records 4k video. I'm working with DOF_Dex on this!

When I am adding telemetry to the video, it seems to make playback stutter and skip - has anyone else had this problem, and is there a preferred CODEC to use?

Running on a reasonably hefty PC with an Nvidia GPU RTX 4050.... so I would have thought it's ok... plays the videos totally fine not through the VideoRide plugin...

    Any tips gratefully received!

Please try playing the video with Windows Media Player on your PC.
(as this is what the Video Ride Player uses)
If you get shuddering when playing the video, then you may need a codec for for your system.
On a side note, I'm getting close to having a new Video Ride Player available for v3, so we can try that one out soon too.
Please let me know how it goes,
    Take care,

    Thanks YoBuddy,

It runs fine on windows media player so maybe we’ll just wait till we get the new version.

Or, I did wonder if we could use something to run the csv straight out of unreal into simtools via some form of packets but that’s beyond my skills - we might be needing a developer to do that…

The reason that would be good is because then we could make an unreal game, in which we set up a camera to output the video for the vr headset, and then send everything to simtools via a plugin. What do you think? Might be a neat way to make it into something that runs as an executable and stick a front end onto it. Just thinking aloud really.

    Cheers

    Nick

I'm working on a VideoRidePlayer plugin for v3. (with an api that can be extended to any video player)
So this should help you and others in the future.
    Take care!
