i'm building a 2DOF rig based on this post
    https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...3dof-motor-driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/

for the position feedback i guess i need something like a 10k linear pot right?

is a cheap 20% accuracy chinese pot ok or should i be spending $20-30 or more on a precision audiophile grade pot?

    thx steve

    PS, i just got this
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/141814699999
    US brand
Standard Resistance Tolerance ±10% Minimum Practical Resistance Tolerance ±5% Independent Linearity2 ±1% Minimum Practical Independent Linearity ±0.5%

    hope that's good enough

thanks, i just ordered a flexible coupling too.

i guess i'll go the the pot for now, maybe upgrade to hall sensor later, i'm not worried about over rotating, tilt range will be limited mechanically to +/- 20degrees or so

BTW, thanks again noorbeast for all your help.

i noticed the hall sensor you use has 'Independent Linearity ±0.5%'

the pot i chose is from the same manufacturer (BI technologies) and looks like it has the same Linearity
