Hello there Dave, thanks for the quick response.

I was wondering if I was going to go ahead with a project if I should start a thread in the DIY Q&A section or possibly an ongoing one in the Project section and build up from there with things related to my current construction.

    Thanks again,
    Stephen

    Hi Stephen,

I would look through the threads, ask questions and gather ideas (as you mention). Once you are ready to start putting parts together start a build thread. You will get a ton of advice (all good!) from those who have gone before. This will make your effort pay off, I can attest to that. Everyone here has been great, and always willing to help.

Thanks for the replies, yea I will have to ask a few more question in the Q&A forum before starting the build or ordering anything.

Welcome mate, yes your at the right site.

For racing I would recommend a 2dof unit, either a seat mover or full frame motion, beware the second is a lot trickier to get right.
Then once you have a handle on the setup and software , I would place a yaw frame under that one and bingo, 3dof.

Simple example of how to take an existing static sim and replace the seat with this:

G'day peoples of tha x-sim world!! My name is 8bit, as you can tell I am from Australia. I have been interested in simulators since a little game on the Atari 2600 called grand prix:) now I have a fair bit of gear under my hat now... I shall upload a few pics asap, it consists of G27, modified in a mig welded chassis (shall be exchanging for aluminium asap) race buckets seats, quadcore pc running only one sim race 07, until project cars comes out, also I have a symprojects jc32 for custom steering wheel, I also run dashcommandpro on my android phone, 7.1 surround sound, and sony 3d tv, now in the last few weeks I have been tinkering with the xpid arduino uno and wiper motor setup... now heres my question.. How am I able to run more than 1 arduino running xpid code??? it says in profiler that I have 2 devices but it only shows 1 on com9?? I have run 1 arduino on each pc in cluster but that equates to one huge hardware setup....which yes at end will be goal but for testing. I would like to run just GAME pc sender and Second pc running profiler with atleast 4 arduino running XPID code??? any help would be much appreaciated and a HUGE hello to everyone:) I will upload my pics asap.. Ps. I know you may have heard this amillion times but I still have not received a rego for downloading X-sim3 I am using a copy of x-sim2 a mate gave me a few years back..

Hello 8Bit and welcome, I am from Sydney, so where are you?
Yes we can help, especially with software. upcoming simtools is better than x-sim ,Simtools is offline, free...need I go on.
I suggest start a new thread outlining what you have so we can help you along.
    Cheers, David.

Welcome mate, use prilads instead of xpid , buggy, hence locks another uno out of USO.
Has the same issue with K8055, Sim Tools allows 6 Interfaces, a lot of people run 2x Jrks without any issues to report.
Post up ya sim mate, simply write up with issue, then apply for beta and lets get it rock'n

With Simtools I am using one Arduino with two axis. The Sketch for the Arduino that RacingMat created handles four axis. You might check into that as well.

By the way, you are running Race07 correct? Do you race with a group, etc? I would be interested in getting into that game, I purchased the Simbin Ultimate bundle but have not yet had time to investigate the needed mods, etc. Let me know.

    David

Eightbit, I too live in a very...very...very rural area ;)

I have high speed internet thanks to a couple of microwave antenna's. One on a barn 3 miles away where I had cable internet installed and the other on top of my house.

I have 10ms pings to most major cities here in the US and 50meg download speeds so the wireless solution does not hurt performance. If you can find someone within line of site that has cable or some other form of high speed internet the cost is not at all high. My antennas were 100.00 USD and I know they are also for sale in Australia.

    Here is their website:

    http://www.ubnt.com/airmax

They have a great forum community with lots of helpful people as well.

I am using the NanoBridge but the PicoStation works just as well (I set those up for a buddy).

Not sure if this helps you at all but hopefully it can give you more options.

I'll keep to my fibre connection here, Unlimited Downloads at 24meg and ups at 1.5meg, fairly quick for around here most in surrounding suburbs get 1.5meg down. Speed here suck because of the Gov and providers , we seem to buy every bodies obsolete tec. Bummer.
On the bright side National Broadband for me is only months away, 100meg down and 24meg up. Will be nice. That's if the new Gov doesn't kill the project off. LOL
