    Why not direct mount the Hall sensor rather than use gears? It is simpler and the Hall sensors are accurate enough.

    I had to use more than one turn on the timing pulley and hall effect sensors are just 360 deg. max.

    How many degrees does it currently rotate? Is it possible to get it back to 360 by using a bigger idler pulley, with a direct mounted Hall sensor, would it physically fit the design? Just spit balling simple ideas, as gears would work just fine.

    I had been playing around with printing my own gears, it worked very well. If you have access to a printer it would be worth a try. @bruce stephen did this with his 2DoF rig.

    @noorbeast ... allow me to elaborate more ... all 3 axis now have a big travelling distance about 90cm or so which occupy about 8-9 turns of the old 10 turns pot , and with a 2.8 cm diameter timing pulley and belt ... the blue pot worn out internally from all the back and forth movements ... But gave me a very good motion resolution which I can't give it up ...

    I've searched the market locally today and didn't find the required Hall effect sensor like the one you guys are using ...

    But I found something that can really makes you wonder where was that before ... a Precision Industrial Potentiometer 5K ohm and 10K ohm without polarity restriction for the 5 volt and ground connection it also works on the 3.3v of the Ard. ... endless rotation repeats itself every 180 360 degree [ working area ] .

    I'll try with a bolt and nut to have about 10cm or so linear motion out of a rotating bolt ... then convert this 10 cm to a 180 degree on the pot axle with a plastic disk or something ;) ...

    Not sure which 10 turn pots you have been using but I found that the type with metal brackets holding the body together have never given me any problems on my rig at all. They have the same Bourne model number so I am not sure how to tell them apart other than the metal bracket. I do not have access to my platform right now, sorry that I cannot post the exact model number that I am using.

    But I'm really cornered right now :( ... replaced the erratic pots with a same blue old ones and experimenting on the new halleffect pot how to get an easy DIY firm reduction gears from 10 turns to 1 in such a tight space ?

    Amazing build, but unfortunately you shared the building process, and didn't share the programing process (how did you manage to make the Arduino comunicate with the VFD ?) which is the most important and complex part.
