Would you maybe sell 6 motors out of your stock pile?

The postage from the Uk will be too high.

my first sim was a 2dof

for the 6dof I decided on the floor frame size and just went ahead and built it

i figured i had spent enough time thinking about it, i just needed to get on and do it

Yeah.. that's what I do too.. I've been messing around with a couple rigs on my YT channel for the past few months.. Just testing different motors and all that stuff.. I did read through your post here. Obviously bigger motors will be better.. Are you on 12V or 24V now? Did you build your own actuators for that monster rig? Thanks my friend!

    I use 2x 24v motors 800w for each actuator

Ok.. So a total of 12 motors? For that amount of wattage, what kind of power supplies do you use? Or are you using a couple 12V batts in series.. I am running a 850amp battery for my main rig.. very simple.. Just getting into the AC to DC converters so just asking questions if you dont mind. Thanks

I would also like to know what power supplies your using and what kind of wattage your actually using

    6 x 800 watts

I use 2x 12v car batteries and a 25 amp 24v power supply to keep them topped up

the motor drivers are 100a each and can handle 200a for short periods of time

Yeah. Batteries are the 'bomb' when it comes to DC available AMPS.. Thanks for letting me know.. Of course when I blow a power supply, I will think.. JEEZE "I need some batteries" to deliver the power.. Seriously I would just use batteries and a charger if I did not want to take the rig 'inside'.. I guess I could buy some Telcom batteries. (rated much higher amp/hr) but I want to 'test the waters' on AC to DC delivery. I'll post what I find if it's somewhat coherent (sometimes it's not hahaah) DMAX YT ch

most modern 12v batteries are sealed and do not give off any vapour

I did use some powerful sever power supplies, but they did not like the regenerative loads. I even tried a snubber diode - it got very hot !

you can buy a 12v car battery brand new for very little money, I always seem to have some lying around.

I used a set of jump leads to provide the power to the motor drivers - again very cheap brand new, available in long lengths and up to 500 amps.

Thanks my friend! I already have one battery 850amp which I run the 3DOF off of. I just want to see how those converters work out.. + I did find some DELL server converters up to 1k watt at 12V. so I would need to run a 12V system. Anyway.. Thanks for all your assistance and information DMAX

Hey. I ended up getting the same 100a motor controllers as you. Are you running these from the arduino's in mode 1?

They need pwm, and 2 direction pins

I dont use smc3 anymore but it should work ok
