I was not satisfied with my pot-links, so I made a direct connection using an exstension bolt. I cut a bit of a plastic plug to make the pot-shaft fit tight. The motion is now a lot better. I now have a diy buttkicker under the h-shifter also. Turning up the wolume make the stich shake with idle motor :)

I still have some fun testing the my sim with GT-Legends. I plan a nice little career, driving these classics first, and then move on to GTR2, and later ACC or RF2, when I get a new PC :) BUT a little testing in GTR2 but it wont move... I hope to get some help here, sharing some photos of SIM-tools. Both games are patched, but GTL showes "Game Patched" and GTR" shows the patch-adress. In tuning center, there is no game data when running the game. I tried to set some values manually, but it did not work. I use the same default axis assigments and interface settings in both games...What could be wrong here with GTR2 ?

"Open the file with Notepad and search for the line Write Shared Memory. Replace the "0" with a "1". Save the file. Patch the game." Done that :)

Also tried to set manually settings in tuning center for GTR2...

Is it normal for game manager to show the patching adress (as in my GTR") or just "Game patched" (as in my GTL) ?

Started mounting some rumble motors, with Arduino and motor shield. First is on the gear-stick. I moved the diy bass-shaker under the floor. The rumble motor is mounted directly on the stick inside the H-shifter-box. its working well. The settings now make the stick shake on low idle, When I speed up there is decreasing vibrations on the stick, and increasing vibrations from the floor and seat. Next is mounting a rumble motor on the brake-pedal, and find som proper settings for that. The result will be FFB on the wheel, bass, shakers on each corner of seat and floor, rumble motor on shifter and each pedal. Together with the seat-mover, it will be a rocking massage-seat
    :cheers

More rumbling, one on each pedal. With GT-legends I dont get full effect of these rumble-motors, as the game dont support detailed ffb on pedals. But i use rpms on the trottle and H shifter, Gear-shift on the clutch, and deceleration g-force on the brake. (SimHub)

I understand simtools support more than one interface ex. for a 6dof simulator. Making a 6dof is a bit more ambitious than I am ready for now, but I have been thinking it might be possible to make a "thigh-mover" inside the seat, to get some feedback for heave...My idea is making just a part of the seat being pushed and retracted, to give the sense of heave. No big movements but just a heave feedback working together with sway/Surge/pitch and roll. Just a thought, maybe others have been thinking in that direction. Windshield motors as power

Finally got GTR2 working with Sim-tools. The solution was reinnstalling, and not using the HQ aniversary Patch I had installed. The bad thing is that the clean Steam-version miss a lot of nice cars. i even tried to replace only a dll file and the gtr2 exe file, as suggested on racedepartment forum, to get access to these cars, (including new patching and editing user data, shared ...)but as soon as i change the gtr-exe, the motion stops working. So the problem must be that the plugin do not support the gtr2 exe file in the anniversary patch.
I will also try other Simbin-games, until I get a better PC

EDIT: Looks like I found the solution here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/GTR_2_-_FIA_GT_Racing_Game#Restore_removed_content :)

A spring update... I have upgraded my PC, and run a medium gaming-PC with 3 asus 27 gaming screens. Playing Assetto Corsa now but will consider Iracing. I burned my windshieldmotor in the diy ffb wheel, so i now consider a couple of second hand budget wheels. one is Fanatec csr forza motorsport, (I guess old but belt-drive) and the other is Trustmaster TMX PRO (belt and gears). Anyone with experience on these wheels?

I need to be on a budget after spende 2500 (us) on PC :)

hello there. why don't you try to build another diy wheel. I think it's not a bad move. you can use a bigger motor, better mechanic with belt driven with a correct ratio (in my case 1:8 is a good number), and you can get a better FFB than a TMX pro. it's just my opinion base on experience. tmx pro is not that have a smooth feeling. and the force is kinda weak, compare to my DIY setup with spec, motor: MY6812 24v 120w, pulley: ratio 1:7 (pulley 15:110) using HTD3M, STM32 with EMCpro software)

I have been looking at the MY6812 alternative, and I will likely buildt it later. My first attemt was just using what I had laying around, with no cost. My priority first is the rest of the rig, update in next post :)

A little update. I bought a sport-seat, and changed to an universal joint replacing the rocking chair. To test it and it was easyer to mount the new chair.

I have added 8. rumble-motors on the rig, and its now working ok. But i wont stop here. next is making a stand for the screens, and I will build a enclosed cockpit around to get more immersion. I have discovered the G-seat-concept, and later I will try making a g-seat system. it is still summer so a lot of other project, but updates with more details later :)

I got an old desktop with lift, on work, with these two actuators. I would like to find a way of using them om my rig. I guess they are slow, but there must be a way to modify them. I am thinking about making some G-seat paddles in the seat, and hope these will be strong enough. They are 24 volts as the label say. I like the idea of using free suff, and its also good for the inviroment :) What do you think? Could it be used with a 12v or do i need another power supply?

They would be way too slow for motion and the parts would not be designed for high speeds.

They would be better used for making adjustable pedals, wheel or seat.

Thanks!, I opened the gearbox, and its a worm gear, similar to a windshield wiper motor, but it drives a biggger worm-screw, in the actuator. For faster (but weaker) motion, I could replace the big screw with an arm like on a wiper, and a suitable linkage to get some torque ,,, I dont have the powersupply but I see they use 2 amp for these. I guess for a g-seat motion you need less than for a seat-mover,,, or a wheel, I just want a little push in my side :)

Yes, I do have an angel grinder :grin and a welder

As mentioned it is a lot of other project going on as it stil is (a rainy) "summer" here in northern Norway. But I spend a little time with my sim-rig also. I only play ACC now and try to make the seat-mover work as best as possible in that game.. (btw, testing rig and trying to improve safety rating... bad idea :))

I had some issues with unwanted movements and found this tread: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...p-to-prevent-negative-vales-and-movement.340/ I was very useful and the chair worked more stable with setting up a and b axis. I still have some small movements I feel is not right (maybe my bad driving :) and maybe some filters would help as smoothing and washout. I cant find any way to activate filters on the b axis, as I cant see that box,,, what am I missing?

In what circumstances are you restricting movement, as that would normally be used with something like a G-Seat?

If you have B axis configured in the Interface Settings you can configure them in the (b) Axis Assignments tab.

The Axis Type opens further options such as Filters.

Thanks, believe I tried axis types, but will try again when I get home. The movements I talk about is ex. sometimes on a straight, i feel i get some quick sway-movements that is too much compared to what i get in a turn. Hard to explain. As I understand smoothing filter, it is to make theese movements a bit smoother, and washout is to make reversing movements (back to zero) softer? I wont be surpriced if I got it all wrong :)
