@mirkobastianini - I think your connections might work but don't know for certain.

Each power supply looks correct by the tutorial but I don't know about paralleling the control pins. The power supplies may or may not be ok with that. In server use with redundant supplies, if that is how they get connected, you should be ok but I just can't say for sure.

If you got a double pole switch instead you could keep the control sections separate and not have to worry.

    Maybe someone else will know...

You would be the first to attempt this to my knowledge, Be sure to let us know if they let out the magic smoke. :p

Also agreed, if your only firing up 2 supplies, a DPST is what you want. Will eliminate the need or thoughts of potentially messing up the supplies.

I've decided to solve problem on top: this is my switch:

I've simply ordered another of this thing, so i can use 2 poles.

What do you think about it?

@mirkobastianini - that looks like the solution. Two poles will be fine for two supplies. If you ever add a third axis or more, you can revisit.

Hey, I have some HSTNS-PL18 psu, I've seen that you can short a couple of pins with a resistor to turn it on, does anyone know if there is a fan speed mod for this psu?

Hi! I am looking for a good power source for a 2 DOF build I'm planning on making and I was thinking of getting two 750W supplies.

I can't decide between two server PSUs, one is from HP and the other from Dell.

I can't add external links yet so I will upload a photo of both eBay listings.

    HP:

    Dell: (only 4 units left)

Can someone please help me decide between the HP HSTNS-PL18 and the Dell 2950 PSU?

Also the total price difference is of ~$13 (in favor of Dell), and as I am (of course) going for a cheap build, I already think I'm going with Dell. If there are more cons than pros, then I will choose HP (a brand I trust more).

    Thanks.

    In the end i used 2 x 12 car batteries and a 25a 24v power supply

The server power supplie did not like the regenerative braking and would shut down

I know the Dell's have been modified and used by members: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/how-to-modify-a-server-power-supply-for-12v.5774/

Not so sure about the HSTNS-PL18, you would have to research those a bit to be sure.

I'm sorry but am I missing something. When I follow the link you posted and click on the link for the 2950 psu it takes me to this thread and to the 1st post (for moding the dps-600bp b) that I referenced in my post. I don't see any information about modding the 2950, only the mention that I quoted in my first post. Sorry if I'm not seeing it but if you could be so kind to link I would really appreciate it.
