Could you please share your axis settings, specifically the percentage allocation for each effect? For instance, how do you differentiate between the heave effect on the front and rear motors? I’m having trouble setting it up correctly, even though I’m using a similar 4 DOF setup. Thank you.

Sure thing, I’ll post something next time I’m at the sim pc.

you do not need for me, I change my design, because it was not stable, with only one lever in the shaft of the motor. Thank you

    Aah, yeah..
When I did FEM analysis on my construction, the motor levers were the weak spot and I have double. I want to build a linear actuator platform next..

It could be interesting to show me the axis assignment anyway. Maybe I'll switch back to your type in the future. My problem is space; I need a simulator that is both mobile and compact because I don't have room in my home.

Had a few friends over trying out the rig the other day. They liked the G-vest!
None of them had ridden a motorcycle before and had some trouble adapting to the countersteering but got the hang of it quite quickly.

I read a few scientific reports on motorcycle steering lately and while torque input during regular driving is usually in the 10Nm area, in racing it is often measured up to 120Nm momentarily.

The direct drive motor I had before was about 12Nm and you could quite easily overpower it with the leverage of the handlebars. It does the job on a desktop controller but for the rig it was not strong enough.
The current steering produces something like 180Nm peak which sounds kind of crazy but gives the simulation the chance to mimic the brutal forces experienced in real racing. nice.. and scary..
Things need to be properly bolted down :thumbs

Hello, is the motor you use a worm gear or a gear reduction? How much power? Are there any gaps or abnormal noises during movement? This motorcycle simulator looks so cool. I want to know what it feels like when cornering. Haha, it should be really cool!

Hello! In VR it is absolutely awesome!

They are worm gear motors. The only positive thing about them is that they hold their position when not powered (because the losses in the gearbox is massive). They are 440W with a 1:60 reduction. Lots of backlash and noisy as hell.

    Don’t get worm gear :grin

    Milestone coming up!

The rig is finally getting a linear actuator transplant! The servos and controllers just arrived and more parts will be coming soon.
Starting to work on the mounts, noticing that this will be substatially taller than with the worm gear motors..
I'll make it work somehow :D

Dry swimming the actuators before the parts from the water cutting guys arrive

    upload_2024-9-25_22-51-44.jpeg

They are soooo fast and silent compared to the worm gear motors. Can’t wait to try this out!

    The water cuts are here!
figured red would cut a few hundreds off the PB. Powder coated them today, so now I just need to mount it all. Fingers crossed the design works

I want to do something like this too. Do you have a diagram you can share?

    Hey man!

Unfortunately no, not really. It’s kind of complicated beyond schematics, especially at my level of documentation. You can probably tell a lot from the posts in this thread.
